The situation might be different in the USA, but I still don't see actual discount prices over here. If you look around more carefully, you will find shops that are selling for a sum that's closer to what it should be (the prices never were cheap to begin with, with Nvidia making GPUs more expensive starting with Turing, AMD following suit). However, a price approaching the original is still not a discount price, it's just a more realistic price after the miner bloating. What comes to the AMD RX series, for example the RX 6700 XT (and lower) were released when the factories were already shipping everything straight to mining lairs in bulk, so RX 6700 XT never had a realistic original price, it was crypto bloated from day one. Only now we are seeing prices that reflect what it might have been without the crypto scheme. Still not a discount, though, over here.

After the manufacturers took everything out of the mining craze and made big bucks, I certainly hope they now feel a little bit of anguish trying to get rid of their wares. Just like gamers were annoyed by not being able to buy cards.

I'm still seeing double price for medium range video cards so yeah, keep the prices coming down and more people who want to buy a video card to play video games will start becoming interested.

At least it's not triple price anymore....... so there's that..

If only there was a solution. Something no one has ever done when supply was greater than demand. Maybe lowering prices?
But greed is one though mistress, that kills logic and reason.

In here NVidia is not an option:
-Still some shortage (despite we are in euro zone)
    -Still at high price
-AMD GPU's price are grounded already since month (well... we are duty free country, it might help too)

It show the "region" and "global" sale tactics from computer manufacturer... Sometime it work... Sometime it don't work :)
(also i read that both XBox S/X and PS5 are fail, sale never goe up after the day 1 craze for both of them... maybe it is that gaming isn't something important for people right now in a more general way)

Cards with inflated prices are hard to sell to a saturated market at still inflated prices while soon being replaced by followup refreshes / models.
Doesn't need Warren Buffet, Ray Dalio or Peter Thiel to explain to me how that could happen.

The bit really find strange is the second hand market. Used 6700XT's in the EU have been more expensive than a new card for several months now even though there hasn't been scarcity in those cards since before the crypto crash

I'm sorry, but 460€ is nowhere near a good price for a x70/x700 card nearly two years after its introduction.
Just a couple of years ago that was the price of a flagship... at launch.

As other said, they need to go a lot lower for actual gamers to get interested.

My personal "I'll consider it" points are 300€ for a 6700XT or 400€ for a 6800 (non XT), but tbh it's so late in the cycle that I might just wait to see what next gen has to offer.

not sure why ppl is still blaming "mining" for anything cost related.
outside some shops/seller adding "500$" to a price tag cause they can, its supply<>demand.

if they sell x-amount of parts, they sell x-amounts of parts,
no matter if its gamers or non gamers buying, no matter if its 1 buying 50000, or 10000 buying 5 each.
the only thing that changes is profit margin (etc).
fact is, no one would go "stupid gamerz", if all the cards of the last 4y were sold to actual gamers...

for me, this has nothing to do with how Nv/AMD/shops behave(d), nor does it mean im happy with end users
not being able to get parts/resonable price etc.

I think this is just HH influencing the market.
Stock here in the UK is all messed up you can get RX6650XT for less than a RX6600XT.

Oh no, we can't sell GPUs at exorbitant prices anymore.
I don't even give them the right to claim they bought the cards at inflated prices themselves.
Those prices were supposed to be high because of high demand, which should mean they sold them out.
Products selling above MSRP when the market is saturated, on a category that sees new technology every 1-2 years is a no go.

You sound like you entered the PC gaming scene only during the last few years. Graphics cards are only systemically running out of stock when a mining craze happens. It doesn't happen when only gamers are buying cards. The production capability is adjusted mainly for the gaming/pro (non-crypto) market (including OEM brand PC makers). When even grandmas and industrial miners are buying every single card in the market to churn out crypto, the graphics card stocks run dry and retail (plus even the manufacturers themselves) raise prices, due to supply (limited) and demand (overpowering). Without a mining craze, there's no chronic lack of cards and retail competition works normally to keep prices at a certain level. So, yeah, you can say "stupid gamerz" but it's meaningless because it doesn't happen in reality. Of course some particular models may be harder to get and immediately after the release it may take a while for the supply to satisfy preorders, but that's it.

Don't forget that a gamer only needs a single card (with SLI and Crossfire dead), whereas there's no limit to how many cards a miner needs. The more cards a miner has, the more profit he/she makes. So, there can be no limit to the crypto demand.

I think amd and nvidia need to be taught a lesson for the future as much as miners. don't jack up prices, dicks. now give us rtx30/rx6000 at 50% or scram.

Here a SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 6600 still costs 372.90€. I don't consider that cheap.
Lower that to 200€ and I know for a fact two will sell instantly: one for me, one for my best mate.
Prices today, even MSRP ones, are for Miners. Give back the pre 2017 prices and GPUs will fly.

PS: You want a RX6700XT? 750€. Ya, they can keep the cards.
