So Polaris 10 = R9 480 and Polaris 11 = R9 470? Nvidia's pricing for their Pascal cards is going to be insane if AMD offers no competition. Was hoping to upgrade soon, but might just hold off to the end of the year and do a Vega + Zen build.

    Hilbert. please check this

    36 x 64 = 2304 (Radeon R9 480 / Polaris 10)
    40 x 64 = 2304 (Radeon R9 480X / Ploaris 10)

    It should be 2560

So exciting! 130watt TDP :D that's a whole different ballgame.

Can't wait to see the actual numbers for these things.

Really hope AMD delivers this time! Would be good for both camps. Very much looking forward to Zen as well! Might just be the one to put my 3570k to sleep. It's going way too strong !

So the performance for the R9 480/480X will be along the same lines as the R9 380/380X but probably with less heat production and less power consumption? So we are looking at a new card probably just north of the 300 Euro mark, maybe 300-350?

Be interesting to see what the performance is between the 380X/480X and whether the new cards will also have 8Gb+ VRam. If new card has less ram and the performance is similar, it all comes down to the price. If the new cards is around the 300 euro mark, why not just buy a Fury Nano?

I'm slightly confused by that strategy, not really what i was expecting.

I so hope the new AMD GPU,s are better than NVidias Pascal it will bring competition back to the GPU market,
I am skipping this generation I am waiting for the next my 980ti,s should be good for a while and to be honest current games are disappointing so I am playing my older games
so don't need anymore GPU power. ( 1 to 2 year old games)

Still just a downsizing Gen probably. Just like 9 Series sort of started out.

That 470 most likely will be around the performance of a 380x+ and the 480 cards will be way more powerful. Still anyone with a Fury X or 980 ti would be most likely sidegrading with the upcoming cards more or less.

They are in the end new gcn cards not just downsized cards.

We are basically looking at efficiency replacement, and low end boost.
    r7-360: 768SP, 48TMUs, 16ROPs - 100W (1050/1500x4 MHz, 128bit)
    r7-370: 1024SP, 64TMUs, 32ROPs - 110W (925/1400x4 MHz, 256bit)
    r7-370X: 1280SP, 80TMUs, 32ROPs - 180W (980/1400x4 MHz, 256bit)

    replaced by:
    r7-470: 1024SP, 64TMUs, 32?ROPs - 50W (1000/1750x4 MHz, 128bit)
    r7-470x: ?

    Then:
    r9-390: 2560SP, 160TMUs, 64ROPS - 275W (1000/1500x4 MHz, 512bit)
    r9-390x: 2816SP, 176TMUs, 64ROPs - 275W (1050/1500x4 MHz, 512bit)

    replaced by:
    r9-480: 2304SP, 144TMUs, 64?ROPS - 110W (1050/1750x4 MHz, 256bit)
    r9-480x: 2560SP, 160TMUs, 64?ROPS - 130W (1100/1750x4 MHz, 256bit)

I hope AMD will not release cards with less than 1024SP, 64TMUs, 32 ROPs in 2016. We need to get rid of that ultra low end. As even today going from r7-360 to r9-380 is $80 difference while it moves people from 768 to 1792SP. And boost gaming performance greatly.

Am I missing something here? Who in their right mind would prefer the new cards (AMD 470, 480 etc) with same/similar performance/price with the only difference being power consumption? Which will save mayyyybe $2-3 a month of electricity?

I would take a 100W 470 and a 260W 480 at the same price with double the performance even if it means double power consumption as well.

Unless I'm missing the big picture here, since in my defense I'm a bit tired and sleepy. :p

Yeah, I don't really get it.

So Polaris 10/11 are essentially just replacing a 390x and a 370. What about Fury X and Fury? AMD has no product for that this year? I mean I didn't expect full size chips, but I did expect something faster then what we had last year. If Nvidia does the same thing and has no replacement for the 980Ti, I'm going to be extremely disappointed.
