Slide states this Monday, presumably day before Titan X. We'll know if this slide was from AMD by tomorrow.
i dont understand why some ppl believe AMD will set the MSRP for the 390x at anything lower than $600. this is the next tier of new GPUs to set the new benchmark for all future GPUs, this thing isn't going to be cheap. i do believe it'll be cheaper than the Titan X but probably not by that much. per price/performance/value ratio, it'll probably be better than the Titan X. i just get the feeling Nvidia's true purpose to delay the 980Ti is to see what the 390x actually offers once they release it publicly, then Nvidia will tweak the 980Ti to comparable and/or better specs to beat the 390x.
It also says that is just an in-house presentation that they are showing to their AIBs, not the public.
At GDC, it was supposedly confirmed that R9 390X was releasing at Computex in June. We'll just have to wait and see though. If the cards are ready, it makes no sense to hold off that long. Titan will be the full GM200. Rumors put the R9 390X outperforming Titan. If that is in fact the case, there's nothing NVidia can do to make GTX980Ti perform better against 390X and it would be a bit asinine to release the Titan in the next couple weeks, then release GTX980Ti 2-3 months later.
Right.. Then 8gb or 12gb isn't enough either, wait for 24gb cards. Super fast vram speeds can compensate "lack" of vram.. Most games need ~2gb, rest is for texture caching - streaming. Looks like, btw you mean 1.28 T/b
VRAM quantity doesn't mean much, if the GPU can't process the data fast enough. Better compression also reduces the amount of VRAM we actually need.
a reference card with water cooling solution and I hope a good one. This could be the time to switch to AMD
Why does stock watercooling rustle your jimmies? Are you that butthurt? In the end its still going to run cooler than the competing alternative with aircooling.
I would buy a reference card with a waterblock, if it was priced reasonably. I wouldn't buy a card with a AIO cooler on it though.
Idk, I'm probably going to buy one and put it under my own custom cooled loop. I'll be pretty disappointing if the specs on the WCE are different and I have to pay additional just take off the AIO anyway.
They or someone also should sell card without cooler at all minus cooler cost of course. CPUs should be sold without them too, well actually they are, but the price is same or almost the same 1 - 2USD difference and warranty is dropped to 1year. Well that's a fail, waste of resources for both parties.
If this slides are true, AMD needs to release this card now, not april, may or june. NOW, if they want to keep Nvidia nervous and stay competitive.
June will be to late... at least to replace my 780ti And i think that, so late will not be good to AMD sucess sales.
??? Your logic fails you... Titan X won't drop the price of 980 for one second. That would be an idiotic move from Nvidias standpoint. No one would buy the Titan X if they did that. The card that will drop the price of the 980 will be the 390x. Still won't drop much if at all I bet. 980ti is the only thing that will drop the price of 980 for sure. IMO anyway.
