Sounds good, providing they price it at the 7970's existing price as that would be good for AMD and Nvidia fans.
Just hoping this isn't going to be tit for tat as yields get better, and we end up waiting ages for a proper refreshes, but instead get slightly higher clocked cards ever few months.
So i guess this card will be now top of line to compete with 680, the normal 7970 might hopefully be reduced in price to compete with 670 and hopefully the 7950 might be reduced to a more affordable price to compete with whatever nvidia will bring to the table in the price range.
I really hope it's where AMD is going cause at sub 400$ (let's say 375$) the oc edition of the 7950 with a custom cooler would then become really interesting.
I'm a little bit surprised at nVidia stategy. The rumors talked about a 670 and a 670ti. I expected the 670 to compete with the 7950 in price and perf anf the 670ti with the 7970.
If i am to believe the preview posted here looks like the 670 compete with the 7970 instead which doesn't make any sens to me cause the 7970 at high res is not that far from a 680. This leave no room for a 670ti at all and force AMD to reduce the price of their cards which leaves nVidia with nothing to compete in the sub 400$ price range right now.
I expected the 670 to be a little bit less expensive to fight the 7950/oced7870 and then the 670ti to destroy the 7970 with lowre price and equal perf.
If the rumor of GTX660 being 5-6 months away is true, we'll definitely be waiting longer for refreshes from nVidia...at least for mid-range refreshes anyway.
GTX670Ti was a rumor to start with. It was never confirmed.
People need to stop accepting rumors as facts..... Seems most of the "rumors" have been debunked so far anyway.
there is no real need for a ti as the 670 is very close to 680 performance for less money. ti is just a rumor treat it as such.
C'mon now....you know people can't treat rumors as that. If it makes nVidia sound better, whether it's verified or not, it's immediately accepted as fact. You know, like the claims that 680 is only a mid-range card....oh yeah, and the previous rumors that GTX670 would be 40% faster than 7970....
Hopefully we see these low volt, high clocking chips in the 7990 if they want to compete with the 690.
Yeah i agree if the preview is true (let's not jump on conclusion here cause their power graph are laughable at best) the 670ti will never see the light of the day.
But then i still don't understand why make a card so close to the 680 for far less money ? Doesn't make any sense to me. It's as bad as the 7950 which was and imo still is too expensive and close to the 7970.
I can buy a oced 7950 with the windforce cooler right now for 410$ CAD. This card will perform near as good as a stock 7970 and 670 for the same price as the stock 670 (the oced 7950 is also coming with 3 un-insteresting free games).
I really expected the 670 to be like 375$ to put pressure on AMD to reduce the price of the 7950 and 7870.
I'm really puzzled at AMD and nVidia strategy right now. All cards perform really close to each others and are all 400$ and more. There's no real good buys in the mid range market save for the oced 7870 at 360$ CAD (all other lesser cards are not an upgrade from previous gen). I mean where's the mid range cards ???
I just bought a new TV and i like using my old 1080p 32" TV for gaming (the TV as a PC input). For the most part my card does the job at 1080p but for some games likr BF 3 it's a little rough. I would like to upgrade but 400$ it's a little bit too much.
I wanted to go with the 670 but now this 7870 hawk by MSI looks like a winner if the price is close to 360$ (the price of the oced 7870 Winforce GB model).
6 gb on one gpu=pointless, now in quad x-fire mode with 2560X1600 res, incredibly insane aa settings and texture mods, shadows, etc, I dont think you would not even come close to 6gb.
maybe couple of 2560X1600 res in muli-monitor gaming format.
but if your getting this card just to 1 gpu, get the lesser vram variant unless your going what I mentioned above.
That avatar is freaking me out.
There will be a GTX 660 Ti....At least thats what I read somewhere
EDIT: Ok I admit it!!!...I wrote it down...Then I read it...
Until it's released....it too should be considered a rumor. nVidia should drop the "Ti" crap altogether.
Crap like this pisses me off, because the 7970 is the only card that can overclock right? Pretty much lost all credibility right there as far as I'm concerned. I mean who would have thunk that OCing a card to exceed the clock speed of a different card (when both cards are already pretty close) would make it perform better...That's kind of the whole point in the exercise isn't it? Ugh.
680 reference review
7970 oc @ 1125 review
The 680 still comes out on top in most games, don't know how their 1050mhz oc comes out faster..
Just a quick reminder that this thread is about a rumoured release not an AMD v NVIDIA pissing contest. Just sayin!
Ti suffix = causes confusion among casual users.
Ti doesn't mean OC'd card either. GTX560Ti had different specs from GTX560.
Oops My Bad...Ti=something Better
in case of the 560 that was basically an oc 460. a 560 ti has more shaders than a plain 560, a 560ti 448 is basically a 470 with even more shaders.
Or, non-Ti = gimped card = actually a lower card
