will be a real difference in gaming?
Yes. i5 2500k much faster.
much much faster
Why? Amd phenom 955 + gtx470 i5 2500 + gtx460, which is better?
I would take a 2500k and a lesser vc over a phenom 2 and a 6990/590. socket 775 yorkfields are faster clock for clock than the phenom 2.
The Phenom 2 gets smacked pretty hard in most games, although a lot of games don't see too much of a *real* difference at a high resolution. And by that I mean I don't consider anything over 60fps really worth caring about. It is nice to see most games getting 100+ averages though.
The main difference between the two that really matters is the minimum fps boost you'll get (which will be large), and the added memory performance makes games a lot smoother. CPU limited games like Starcraft 2 also see a huge jump especially with overclocks (which are much easier with the 2500). You'll be happier with the 2500 for sure, so go with that. I previously gamed on the 955 if you were curious. Also on the choice of video cards, the 470 is quite a monster with good cooling, but the 460 is quite good as well. So don't worry about the minor downgrade.
there any pics...just asking because i never see my cpu go over 60% load and its stock 3.2g my video is stock as well and there is not a game i can play maxed
GTA IV just loves the 2500/2600k!!
ahh i got it for the 360 not pc
Get a AM3+ motherboard and grab a Bulldozer if you prefer AMD.
