7970 crossfire review (remove the spaces). should give you an indication as to what to expect from the 7990.

its not bad, but i'll probably wait for the next gen nvidia cards to launch and then take advantage of the price wars before deciding on which card to buy.

i also do like the power draw. 210w under load..thats better than a 560 rofl.

Hum HardOPC and Anandtech show the 7970 ahead in all the games they tested from what i can remember. Not by much in some case but it's not like the card is 800$. It's even cheaper than some OC 580 ...

The card might be a little cheaper but it's a worthy competitor. If someone needs to upgrade now then it's the card to get if you have the money for it.

Unfortunately, AMD's software team is nowhere as good as their hardware engineers, therefore, I will NEVER buy another AMD card at all because of their very very bad Catalyst drivers ...

I said the same thing when I was upgrading my last card (8800GTX), but I bit the bullet and went with AMD anyway..

I can now say there isn't anything bad abut the drivers unless you have CF, in which case AMD lags behind, but for single cards the drivers are fine.

I really miss Nvidia Inspector and driver Application Profiles though....

Because in the review in some tests its about 60fps lower than the competition.

dunno where youre looking, but a 560 only draws 160-ish watts.

    http://www.guru3d.com/article/ecs-geforce-gtx-560-review/8

a 560ti 384 core draws around 170w at stock clocks.

    a 560ti 448 core only draws 188w. http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-560-ti-448-core-review/7

i'd be keen to see if amd can improve the performance per watt ratio with drivers, but that may take a while.

Damn that's an awesome card, you can get just one of these and still have superior performance as it beats the GTX 580 by at least 15%. I'd like to see what these things can do in crossfire mode, I guess I'll be waiting for the 7950's though, if they come at around € 300 I'm definitely selling my 6950's and get 2 of those.

The factory clock setting only impressed me in its power draw and temperature range.

But man the new overclock article really got my hopes up. I wonder what other companies can do with better cooling and factory overclocking?

GTX580 also has "mature" drivers whereas the HD7970 was reviewed using beta drivers....which, judging by some reviews are probably closer to alpha...

    You're 10watts too high....GTX560 has a TDP of 150watts.

    nVidia GTX560 Specifications

    GTX460 had the 160watt TDP.

Looking forward to get one or two of these to balance out my new build.

With my current GPU, I can only dream about gaming... lol

Geez, how can you have a great cpu and settle for that card? I am waiting for the HD7970 to show up in my neck of the woods, but may not rush to grab one or two till price stabilise somewhat. It seems demand here for the limited number that would be released here may result in some price gouging.
