Oh wow, Intel stock is climbing through the roof, AMD is still holding steady for the moment, probably will change tomorrow when the reviews hit more of the public.
mem speed - Basically, no difference. You might be overestimating the impact of increased mem speed in this case. See HWC mem speed test: "...we benchmarked the FX-8150 with aG.Skill RipJawsX 8GB memory kit running at DDR3-1333 7-7-7-1T, and with the same kit overclocked to DDR3-1866 9-11-9-1T. This represents two easily attainable and relatively affordable specifications.... Basically, no difference...."
now that ive been thinking about it, if all i did was rip my blu-rays and encode music, i would go for this. it seems like thats where this cpu is strongest at. but unortunately i do alot more than that on my main rig.
I do seen the theme, AMD totally blew it with Bulldozer, they concentrated where performance doesn't matter, and having those 4 extra cores doesn't help them as Windows 7 doesn't know how to use them. Funny how AMD over the years since the Athlon 64 started doing things backwards.
Um, no. This time around AMD is bad, as its getting outperformed or of equal performance to the Phenom II x6 series.
meh, competition would of been nice. cant wait for the reviews of the 4 and 6 cores maybe they will compete with the socket 775 yorkfields
Yeah, I'm a huge Intel fan, used to be AMD, until the C2D lineup, that shifted Intel into the domination. I haven't seen a logical reason to go to AMD in years, as even Intel's cheapest beat AMD's best almost all the time. (Since C2D) I wish BD did kick ass. Heck, I wish it was 20% stronger than the 2500 / 2600, or even the new E, because then Intel would push put more performance & lower prices. I wouldn't mind an AMD system again, but when I look at the numbers, it's always more bang for the buck to go Intel.
Well, i've got to say I am disappointed - but I can't help but wonder what the F is wrong? something fishy is going on with these processors. Perhaps its something similar to the TLB with the original Phenoms, or maybe its windows not knowing how to manage the processing threads due to the bulldozer architechture?......or just maybe bulldozer really is a steaming pile of ****...I had high hopes for you amd, all those slides showing a stock 8150 trading blows with the 2600K, all the marketing saying "these chips will DOMINATE in multithreaded apps and GAMING" multithreaded apps they have got right (somewhat, anyway) but gaming performance is just shocking. Might have to build my first ever Intel build next time around by the looks unless theres some magical fix in the works.
I still have faith in this chip. I will watch and wait for AMD to get its act together. It seems AMD have released them to early due to peer pressure, after a few delays. If i were them id withdraw it, fix the problem. Give out some sort of appoligy speech, and only release it when THEY are ready. And when they do release it, it should kick SOME ass.
