So i was using my New Radeon Pro W6600 for a while now, and i was using my Radeon Pro W5500 on my secondary computer. I'm replacing my aging HP Secondary Computer with my main Dell 5810 soon because I'm buying a 7810 as my main soon, so i decided to stop using my W6600 and use my Radeon Pro WX 7100. I notice AMD Fluid Motion in the control settings, but didn't really pay it any attention. So i turn it on and go watch some movies, wow, I already use Splash video and Cyberlink DVD, not only does movies look better, the image quality is better, more clear, and when its moving at 60fps it looks much more smoother than my two W5500 or W6600, even looks better than my RX 570 ( the WX 7100 is slightly more powerful anyway ). So the WX 7100 has two features that the other cards i mention don't have: AMD Fluid Motion Video Hardware Acceleration for Video Encoding <-------(enable with wx7100, missing with w5500 and w6600) My question, using Navi cards wtf happen , why are these features removed from the drivers? Also another question, what AMD cards "stopped" having those features? Does Vega cards have those features in it?
Yes, Vega cards have this feature as well as all GCN architecture cards. They have removed it with the first NAVI cards. I have no idea why. I used AMD Fluid Motion with PotPlayer and 290X thanks to Bluesky Frame Rate Converter filter. Now with 7900XT, I have to use software interpolation with SVP filter but it's not so good. Now with the upcoming FSR3, AMD is going to introduce "another" Fluid Motion Video frame generation technology for games. I hope that it will be useful for videos too. They removed something as useless and later just because NVidia already have it, they decide to bring it back as something we need it. It's so stupid!
Do Pro cards do anything special for video encoding? I figured all AMD GPUs to support video encoding (except whatever that silly cut-down card recently released was)
Are the 5000 and 6000 series going to support FSR3? Ok So I'm using Splash Video Player, and from my old Firepro W7000, WX 7100, wx 4100 and rx 570 has hardware acceleration enable for video encoding, but with my w5500 and w6600 it does not.
Unfortunately no, because it needs the hardware AMD Fluid Motion which is not available on NAVI cards.
