I looked at it at 1080p in Riftbreaker demo. Not appealing, but usable. Not that game need this, even with RT enabled, at least for my 6800xt.
The thing is, I can use it in VR, and there is huge gain, just enabling it with default settings (0.7 resolution) gives enough boost, I can play Elite Dangerous at steamVR supersampling at 100%, 90fps lock, no slowdowns, no stutter.
Need to check other games like Fallout 4 VR some day.

Well, no one was stopped from adding all kinds of image scalers into lots of projects, lots of open source projects available too.
Thing is you can select bicubic upscaling in old Serious Sam 3 game from 2011, and when upscaling a screenshot with EASU tool by AMD in comparison, it looks 98% identical. It's just sickening how lots of people are easily impressed by a sharpen shader (RCAS, apparently slightly different CAS version). And I can't help but to think devs care less about proper TAAU because there can be a lazy FSR implementation, or perhaps have a marketing deal with AMD...

AMD Readies Radeon Super Resolution ‘RSR’ Technology, Could Be Enabled in Games Through Drivers

So nVidia copies AMD's FSR, and now AMD copies nVidia's NIS.

It should. Unless AMD decides to be a dick and locks out older gens.

what is this craziness about spatial upscalers ? is this 2015 and people are trying to actually run 4K monitors on Fury like amd said lol

I think two things need to happen.nvidia should remove NIS completely from the driver, and amd should start caring about people who bought rx6000 series for double the msrp and give them something that's at least as good as dlss 2.0,possibly 2.3 with time. Not win a war who can make two gen old cards run new games by lowering the resolution.

I think rdna3 mcm will obliterate lovelace and arc gpus when it comes rasterized performance not needing to rely on upscaling and if you really want there is global fsr within the driver.

They came full circle from the DSR/VSR era.

For DSR/VSR, it would actually make sense to use Lanczos scaling, especially for factors <2x per axis. It's just dumb that either AMD, nor Nvidia actually do it.

    no one knows that
mcm will have a lot of theoretical combined performance if you add the FP32 on the chiplets, but it might as well end up a power hungry compute card that only matches or loses to rtx40.They need to get their RT performance up too,and in a big way.I don't think the buyers would want to see amd falling behind by a generation for the third time.

nvidia will at last have a node parity, they used an inferior 8nm from samsung that can't stay stable at 2GHz while AMD took tsmc's 7nm+ to absolute limit with 2600-2700MHz cards.

to me it looks like nvidia is trying to pull ahead in rasterized performance by going with 5nm tsmc, they were very limited with rtx30 only managing 2000mhz on samsung.
amd on the other hand will try mcm to have more theoretical compute horsepower for ray tracing, they don't wanna be a generation behind once again.Seems more like a brute force solution, might end up very expensive to manufacture and inefficient in a lot of games,we'll see.I think nvidia will prefer to make a single bigger die, maybe something like 2080Ti 750mm2,and amd to make a mcm cause when they're both on the same node, amd know they'll lose.

the most important thing will be availability though, not performance.

MLID mentioned how amd will finally take the performance crown with 7900xt next year and they need to consider the cost of it all. Not only that but it will more efficient. Sounds to good to be true but lets see.
