Hmm tha's not so exciting rumor has it that a hand full of AMD's Radeon HD 7000 series entry-level cards will be rebadged Radeon HD 6000 series chips. The Radeon HD 6350 6450 6570 and 6670 will basically...

So is the consumer at the end of the day.

Although not even a power reduction/smaller processa?

I've never had an issue with this, no point wasting money designing new cards if the performance is going to be similar to a tweaked re-brand.

Yeah, they did this with the 5xxx series, repackaged them as some of the lower end 6xxx series.

But I remember when AMD fans would flaunt NVIDIA's rebranding in NVIDIA fanboys faces, about how AMD doesn't do that, and NVIDIA is scum for doing it.

Then AMD did it, and "Oh well, it's OK, it's an understandable practice." suddenly came from their lips. bleh.

It's a ****ty thing to do by either company and it is only done to mislead people not fully in the know.

There is no way the 6670 is being re-branded... again. The 6650 and 6670 are both re-branded 5650s and 5670s.

I call bollocks on this rumor, doubly considering the 7000 series is going to be a radically new architecture.

Pretty much this. If the performance and price is the same, why bother.

I thought it was known quite a while ago only the HD7950 and HD7970 will be the new architecture, the rest probably coming in the HD8000 series. Some of the lower models probably will be essentially 'rebadged', but updated.

No wai only high end models aka small percentage of sales, are new arch.

If that idd would be the case Nvidia would smack them silly

Ya but Nvidia was doing with faster cards. Not low end consumer cards. 8800gts 512=9800gtx=9800gx2=9800gtx+=gts 250. They whored out the g92.

I did have kinda an issue with the 5770 becoming a 6770 with no tweaks though. They should have just made it the 6790 the 6770.

I am not saying I support this either. But I really dont care if its lower end cards getting rebranded. AMD is gonna have to do what they can stay competitive in the high end. This is a way for them to save money. I think people had a problem with nvidia doing it because they were top dog and doing that stuff at the time. Ati at the time was showing progression with their cards even if they were behind till the 5k series. I really dont wanna see the domination that nvidia had a few years ago again.

Weren't the 6350, 6450, 6570 and 6670 already rebrands of its 5000 series brethren already?

Going to be seriously disappointed in AMD again if they do this.

    Yip that's correct.
Which is why i find this very hard to believe.. :3eyes:

If for example the 6770 became the new 7670 then i would not mind using the old stuff. But i doubt it very much that the 6670 will be branded as the 7670.

The new architecture was only going to the HD7900 series (7950, 7970, 7990)....

Yeah, the 7800's are just a shrink of the 6900's, so if you already have a 69, then its the 79's you want.
