Did you read reviews in that link? I wouldn't touch that particular card with a 10 foot pole.

but yeah, I would like to have a "good" Vega 56

Guy said vrms are getting hot if you dont have enough airflow, duh?

Who knows how is he handling the card and what case is he using.

apparently you didn't read ALL the "verified owner" reviews! ......20 guys out of 25 said the card was a piece of s**t! .....

an on the egg to be a "verified owner" you had to actually buy it.

Dunno if Navi is "close" you probably want to clear the stock and the best way to do it is by reducing the price. Not saying it's close or not just that AMD reducing the price probably doesn't mean much outside of them reducing the price.

They want to sell Vega stock because now against the Turing GTX & the RTX 2060 they look awful.....

AMD didn't even mentioned the name "Navi" in the last 4 months.
not in CES, not in GDC.

They don't look awful though, and overall are getting some positive feedback. AMD is lowering Vega 56 to remain competitive with no product.

Wherever you lower your prices, it basically means that you're not competitive.
Margins on Vega were already really bad.

Cutting prices is basically saying, our products are not competitive enough, when was the last time you saw Nvidia cut it's prices?

Nvidia has new and old products at every price point already. It wouldn't make sense for them to cut prices.

How is that different from AMD? AMD struggles heavily today in the GPU department.

Older gpu core does not equal not worth it in today's standards. Nvidia has a ton of R&D into Turing, so it makes sense for them to release so many products at a price point with Turing. AMD like you said, has been struggling. So why release a slew of new products if your old products perform just as well but aren't selling?

What? I don't understand... on the one hand you say AMD struggles, on the other hand you say their products perform well.

Performance alone doesn't mean anything. Performance is measured against price & efficiency.
if you need to use HBM2 to compete with a product that was released a year before using a cheaper memory solution(GDDR5) while still consuming a lot more power, you're not doing great.

New product means better performance for the same price. this is exactly what Nvidia did, unfortunately there's no competition to keep their pricing in check.
but still you get a 1070 performance for roughly 100$ less today & ofc other architectural improvements as it should be.(1660Ti)

I got that card as well and so far everything is good. It helps having good airflow though. Temps maxes out around 70c while stressing.

I hope it will be still working in a few months lol, keeping my 580 atm just to be safe. Those reviews (and on Amazon) are hilarious. It almost seems that some tried putting it into ITX cases. :p This card just needs good airflow, no compromises here.

No no no, AMD struggles in sales and R&D. Performance not so much.

    Performance = sales.
Look at ryzen, same horrible PR team, the product is just extremely competitive.
AMD doesn't have a strong product to compete in the GPU market.....

Name 1 product that is competitive with Nvidia? and please don't say Vega.

Isn't it weird that all along the way the unbiased and serious ppl have been calm and collect about every new bite NV took during each new generation:

Oh, it's nothing. AMD is perfectly fine. All they need to do is [...]

and yet we have come to the point where NVIDIA's advantage over AMD is such that they are beating them in both time-to-market AND using the old node? Lets not even mention that god-awful market share.

Could it be that calm, serious and unbiased ppl were wrong?
That actually there was reason for panic... if not with Kepler, then certainly with GTX 750 Ti

I wouldn't say they beat AMD in terms of time.... 12nm was basically a refined 16nm available for TSMC, 7nm on the other hand is new and most of it is reserved for mobile first.
but it's sad that AMD needs 7nm to compete in the first place, no doubt.
