Video same overclock with AMD curve optimizer showing HWinfo64 effective clocks for non believers

EDIT: Added the screens for BIOS from the two videos, everything else is auto in BIOS to keep it simple

How to get 5100Mhz on the MSI Motherboard used
You can set whatever you want and check stability. First off there are two different areas in all BIOS for PBO stuff.

In the AMD overclocking section ,go to PBO and set your AMD curve optimizer up negative/positive this will give you normal boost clock
EG:5800X boost to 4850Mhz

In this section you can add up to 200Mhz it is the same for all motherboards
EG: 4850Mhz+200Mhz=5050Mhz

If you want higher CPU boost clocks then you need to goto the second area for PBO settings Advanced CPU Configuration set your PBO boost higher than 200Mhz like in the first section on MSI motherboards you can go as high as 500Mhz

To get 5100Mhz then set PBO here to 250Mhz
So 4850Mhz+250Mhz= 5100Mhz save and test.

As long as I get a bios update for my Asus 470x board I'll be grabbing one too, a 5800x.

Very nice result, looking forward to try the Curve Optimizer feature too. :)

Wow, super impressive results! Temps and frequencies are exactly what I'd wish for.

I've just read about the curve optimizer but what is it exactly?

Was curious too so I did a Google before going to sleep and
found this explenation by elmor over at overclock net^^
https://www.overclock.net/threads/r...izer-to-5-1-ghz-pbo-and-overclocking.1774434/

ASUS DOS overclocking is also explained there, but it is only on the
ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark that have it at the moment I think.
All brands/500 series (not sure about 400) motherboards should
have Curve Optimizer I think since AMD added it with the latest AGESA.
(Not sure but I guess they did with 1.1.0.0 Patch B or C).

Elmor also mentioned a little about manual overclocking and possible
FCLK/memory. :)

I read that some time earlier but honestly didn't understand what it meant until now. Quite nifty! Wonder if Gigabyte has that option. Guess I'll see once I update to the latest version. (This time it feels like I must do a "real flash" using a bootable USB and all)

Ahhh what a relief my epeen is back in tack after being question on validity of Ryzers users not knowing how to use there CPU.:D Reading the wrong clocks

Made video for effective clock showing on this particular AMD curve overclock in multi cinebench 20

While doing benchmarks all core hitting 4900Mhz on this overclock

All brands will have Curve Optimizer for their 500 series motherboards
because it is added by AMD in their Overclocking tab I think. :)

whats the point of OC'ing so much in a game like this when the CPU usage is just over 10% ?
Ubisoft updated Valhalla to DX12 as opposed to Odyssey and Origins which are Dx11, so it's not CPU heavy anymore, it's all GPU power now as you can see by the usage
I also have a 5800x btw

So let me get this straight, I am not allowed to overclock my CPU in a PC game because there is no point.
You did not say anything about Cinebench20 so that is OK.
Please send me a list of PC games and applications I should and should not overclock or just a CPU clock I should leave my CPU at 24/7 so I do not upset you.
What about 4250Mhz that looks like a great number to set my CPU to.

Some links from AMD if anyone wants to read.

Beyond AGESA 1.1.0.0 for Ryzen 5000 Series:

• Returning support for negative core voltage offsets (“undervolting”) with all-new AMD functionality for better frequency, voltage, and performance tweaking
• Additional AMD optimization for performance and stability at ~2000MHz fabric clock. While not all processors are innately capable of reaching this frequency, our tuning is intended to help stabilize the overclock on capable samples2 —good luck!
• Additional functionality tuning for benchmarking under extreme OC conditions (e.g. LN2)

1) Ryzen 5000 Series doesn't need a power plan. Don't expect to see one.

2) Yes, it can clock to DDR4-4000 1:1 if you have a good sample. Upcoming AGESA work will make this easier.

3) But you CAN tweak Ryzen perf vs. power with the Win10 Power & Sleep sider AFTER you install the chipset driver.

4) Is the memory controller the same? YES.

5) Do you need a new AGESA for pre-5000 Series CPUs? No. Not really. Stay on the BIOS you have.

6) But ROBERT what about the VOLTS and the CELSIUSES. WHAT IS NORMAL?!?!!?! ROB HELP. See below.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EmHKqLuXIAAdJLq?format=jpg&name=large

7) What is the best memory to buy? TOUGH QUESTION

8) I see this a lot: "precision boost is automatic overclocking." No. False. Wrong. Precision Boost is our boost technology. Every processor has a boost technology. But ours is unique in that X THREADS do not equal Y CLOCKS. Why? Because that is SLOW.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EmHS-6QW0AEFA7N?format=jpg&name=large

9) But Robert, where is undervolting? Answer: IT'S GONE. j/k. Temporarily gone for 5000 series. It'll be back in an upcoming AGESA with new functionality. upload_2020-11-17_10-49-15.gif It's gonna be HYPE. Y'aint never seen undervolting quite like this.

Wow I stopped using it because it was behind fps monitor in customization I might need to check it out again. Would you mind sharing your setup file?

Thanks for taking the time to set this up, the editor is very similar to the program I have been using so Im having no problems with the function. Only one I cant figure out how to get going is min avg max and time played what data sources are you pulling that from?

I still have one :) Even when I'm on the 5900X. Should I switch over to Windows Balanced?

Thanks for this I found some but not all of these, I'm not getting any info though for min avg max or time played, is that aida64 info?

Nether wind, yes AMD stated windows balance is best
