Hello I noticed Micro center has slashed prices on most of the Fx series Cpus.I use to own a Fx 8350, 9370 but currently I only have a fx 6300, so If I get a 8350 /8320 is on sale for $110 I think that is great deal for 8 cores! So hopefully I can somewhat improve my system on the cheep. Just dont have the money to do Intel- I would love too.

Yet another problem I have is I am using a real cheep motherboard, was thinking to get something like the Msi Krait edition so I can run sli.Currently running a Asus M5A78L I can barely get it to push 4ghz.

That sounds like a waste of time and money. Just keep what you have until you can afford an intel platform. SLI on amd cpu is a total waste of money.

I've had my fair share of toying around with my 8320 chip, had it overclocked to 5ghz,
pushed down to 6 cores/4 cores, the difference between 4 and 8 in games is like 20%,
but the difference between 6 and 8 is literally zero. And i mean it, i've tried all kind of
games, one would wonder why would one do such tests.. well I'll tell you why, my cooling
is not sufficient enough to handle 5ghz 8 cores oc so i did 5ghz 6 cores. Compared it to
5 ghz 8 cores and in titles like battlefield 4/hardline and witcher/dota i saw 0 fps difference
and by zero i mean to the last digit.

However there is a slight difference in rendering(duh..) But i doubt people here render
24/7 and need the fastest render times possible so if you wanna waste money, look at
something else, because looking at another chip is like flushing them down the toilet.

Easily go for the Krait edition motherboard. If you can barely get 4ghz out of your 6300, you will not have much luck with an 8320 for example on that motherboard.

Its just isnt worth it going from fx6300 to any current amd chip. Like Agent said, save up and get a Intel platform. Multi GPU system or not it will perform better.

When it comes to gaming, something like i5 6600k/Z170 will destroy anything AMD has to offer atm.

    This ^^

I have the 8350 and am saving for an Intel setup as we speak

I drag behind every single bench vs Intel even at 4.8GHz, even when I had it at 5GHz

AMD is not the CPU platform to stick with these days

Yeah It sounds like you guys are correct! I hate to admit it but its true.I have an idea in the mean time I will just pick-up a Pentium G3258 with a Nice mid-range board so we are looking at $150 plus tax.....Come tax time I will use the money to get the 4790k then I will have the G3258 as a back-up cpu.

Looks like for the time being then that I am done:) With Amd. Thanks guys.

If you do, go with am MSI 970 Gaming on the cheap with an 8320e. I do not think it is a waste at all as long as you can get both for under $200 including tax.

Zen is a long way from becoming a reality cant wait that long.Honestly I have had so many Fx cpus its about damm time I switched-I am actually going to listen this time instead of following my instinct.

What board would you guys say is best for a G3258 for the time being, then I can drop-in a 4790k in a month or so......

    1).AsRock H97M-itx-$75.99
    2)Gigabyte Ga-Z97X-Ud3h-$115
    3)Msi Z97 Gaming 5 LGA 1150-$107
    4)Gigabyte GA-Z97 MX-Gaming-$95

I would go with the Asrock one and get the cheapest locked 4 core processor you can get. Beside, you said you live near a Microcenter, right? After all, there is no guarantee that you will have the $300 to drop on that 4790k but, if that is the way you are going to go still, get the mITX board and have fun.

I just realized, unless you are planning on overclocking or doing sli / crossfire. Then anyone of the other 3 will be fine.

Oh its for sure I am getting the 4790k, U can bet your life on it lol.And since $50 dollars for a G3258 is basicly nothing I have always been curious to see what these chips can do, I will drop in the pentium until the 4790k comes in. 1st Intel build I am very hyped-up for some reason.

I could get the i5 4690k right now if I wanted to but I really what the i7 to be honest, the G3258 is just a test and a back-up thats all.

Ah yes I plan to overclock and probb do Gtx 780 sli as well, at least my Cpu wont be holding me back anymore! Hell yeah! lol/

I picked-up a Gigabyte Z97 MX Gaming 5 motherboard- Plan is to run the 4790k overclocked with 2 x Gtx 780 for the mean time. G3258 will go in first tough. Any compatability problems with these? Thanks.:)

You shouldn't have any compatibility problems. Also OC the heck out of that Pentium chip. You can get at least 4ghz with the stock cooler. I have seen 4.7ghz out of the Pentium chip with an H100i. Or you could get a 3rd party cooler and after you get your 4790k you can just reuse it.

Will do buddy! I am eventually going to get a better cooler just not today was figuring now that I joined the blue Team I can finally pick-up the Intel/Astetk cooler with blue writing? It looks amazing in my opinion. But only place I can find it is New-egg.The 4790k is coming in about a months time.

Now I see you are running 2133mhz is that what I schould be looking for as well?

Yes get at least 2133mhz cl9, 2133 or 2400mhz cl10 is the sweet spot for Haswell.

2133 at minimum as TJ has said 2400 is good as well. Yeah that Intel Liquid cooler is a good for what it is alot better than that crappy stock cooler.
