    thanks von dach...this new tweak(timer with hpet on and the bcdedit/set useplatformclock true) made my pc very smooth from the beginning to shutdown, gaming, and also i have now the lost "catalyst control center" index on desktop right-click menu...

    anyway, i still have lower dpc with hpet off(5 μs, instead of 30μs), but i am smooth now...maybe the 14.31818MHz and 1.00 ratio does the magic thing...:banana::banana::banana:

    My timer is 0.99 and I rarely have issues so have not tried Von Dach's timer fix yet. I will give it a go after I get a new HD in this rig. Its already full!

    What does the magic as I explained, is the fact that TSC timer is no more mixed with ACPI/PM timers as the default Windows timer. PM timer is normally Local APICs one except if HPET is enabled (better resolution/frequency, lower latency but both are good)
    So getting TSC out of the equation is the real performance/bug fix benefit, HPET can then deliver even more precision/performance without interference.

    The tweak is (for who just get into it), Win7(maybe Vista too):
    Open a admin cmd.exe, type "bcdedit /set useplatformclock true", reboot.

    Lol, it's only a boot parameter, you can use it now if you want, only ~25 bytes will be written on your HD.

    I'll copy and paste all my related threads in different forum sites soon.

    Since this post was last updated the application profiles have been updated so,I'm curious how we should treat ati application profiles when using this method?Is it safe to install updated app profiles over already installed setup?

    I just tried Von Dach's timer suggestion and rebooted my computer. I then load up ~ 4-5 internet apps back to back! Holy sheeet........... It is like as if I had defragged my HD as all apps just loaded in less than a minute. But I did not defrag my HD! Windows 7 usually sit there doing "something" waiting just to into the desktop!

    I will test games in a few hours and see how it goes. Cannot believe that command would have such an impact on just booting into Windows alone!

    Just want to make mention here that this seems like it is a scam. I paid $10 for this program and go no email for the password it asked for or any kind of download link, nothing.

    I will correct myself. Lucas did contact me with the download. Also I am on win7 64 bit, which isn't shown for v1 free, only the v2 paid. Atleast as far as I can see.

    Hi, had to dig to find this old thread.:nerd:

    I'm still on 11.5's and just wondering if this method still works with the newest drivers or obsolete now?

    Yes it does still work, I use it every time and with my old NVIDIA cards too. I'm a little lazy but I still take notes of tweaks I come across on the web, I'll probably do a major update before BF3 release.

    I've installed AMD Catalyst 10.10e Hotfix Win7 Nov9 Von modded some time ago and now every new drivers do not detect my graphics :/

    I got 2x HD5770's in Crossfire. Tried DriverSweeper but no luck.

    Manual installation works ok.

    How to fix this ?

    Yes Von, tweaks for BF3 would be amazing. These have made BC2 run like a dream for me on my 5970.

    Yeah....it would be good to have an update with the current drivers.

    I'm running with HPET off, haven't noticed any difference....what else can I do? the bcedit tweak?

    Thanks in advance!

    Realy great mod, it solved my problem with low textures in COD2, thanks :)

    I have one question, why do you have in the tweak reg file
    "ASE_NA"=-
    "ASTT_NA"="1" ?
    I changed it both on 0 and now I can also change Adaptive AA... :)
