In regards to the stuttering caused by GPUs fluctuating between 20% to 99%.
I turn down the Texture from Ultra to High and Crossfire is working 100% of the time @ 99% scaling.

Hope it fixes for people having the same problem as me

What combination of drivers/cap are you using man? Ive only tried 11.10pre 3 both without and with the cap4. For me, with the cap4 is better. Much more gpu utlization and much smoother gameplay. Pre3 on its own made my second gpu switch from 725/1000 to 175/300 according to msi ab. Caused loads of stuttering.

So just wanted to hear from another fellow cf 5850 to see what u found.

That s vram limitation. No surprise it feels smooth for you now.

Yeah that's what I thought too. But with the same settings without Crossfire, it's pretty flawless 30fps.

Probably still more kinks to work out with the Caps.

11.10 Preview 3 with Cap4 is the way to go for me. Turned down the Texture Quality to High instead of Ultra and it's very smooth. It's weird, Texture Quality Ultra is fine with Single GPU

Still no crossfire for 4870x2 maybe because of preview 3?

CAP4 Makes it even worse... atm i am using 11.9 with NO CAP and HT turned off and playing smoothly so far.. BUT only on NON-Punkbuster servers because this Realtek onboard audio with Punkbuster bug freezes my PC completely and needs to be fixed ASAP.

    HI all,

I Finaly fixed my stutter problems with my cfx setup
    Full clean with atiman
    10.11 v3 and cap4
put all my setting and high in stead of ultra msaa off and post on high, hboa on, af 16x

But still i am not really happy.
When i run gpu - z i see that my gpu loads on bouth 5870 are 60% to a max of 75%.
when i play on a singly gpu i have 100% load...

How can i fix this? Or is my cpu bottlenecking this?
Also i feel i should be able to play on ultra (msaa off).
But I guess i will be able to play on ultra when drivers are fixed with my rig?

Tnx for the help in advance.

edit: I read that alot of poeple are fixing there gpu load by putting textures on high in stead of ultra but that didnt do it for me...

In Bfbc2 i have the same problem. In Bf vietnam i have 2 times 95%+ load...

edit 2: my main 5870 has 2 gig ram and my second only has 1 gig v ram... Could this cause any problems??

hi, both 5870 need to be 2gig mate. i used to own 2x5870 eyefinty6 cards. your only using 1g at the moment which is causing your stuttering.

I hope the stuttering issue is a CrossfireX issue. So is AMD who needs to fix. Cause if it's a issue with the game, well, we are never going to have this stuff solved(DICE).

11.10 Preview 3 with Cap 4 works well on my 5870 Crossfire system. They didn't at first. Not sure why. I am running 1900x1200 on ultra in BF3. Frame rates do dip every once in a while but it doesn't interfere with game play.

    11.10/3+CAP4, HD6990 + 2600k...
BF3 running perfectly on ultra, no stuttering and smooth as hell...
However World of warcraft fps has been cut by half...
    *sigh*

It is okay not to get 100% usage if vsynched. Which I prefer because of tearing. Please confirm you are not vsynched.

Else, vram bottleneck would result in a lower usage than what it could reach. BF3 with CFX bottlenecks on 1GB of vram before than it does on processing power.

I am playing with my 2 6870s on high, 1080p, 2xMSAA, FXAA medium, AF 8X, HBAO and I get a super smooth 60+ fps with CAP4. I am pretty close to the vram limit (1800mb) but I dont go above even on large Conquest maps.

Is that with 2 2gig cards or 2 1gig cards because if its 2 1gig cards then it does not count as 2gig its still ONLY 1gig. So you are above your 1gig already.

    i am not vsynced!
if i would, would i have better results??

a friend of mine has also 2x 5870 with same drivers and setting but get 60% more fps... he has an i7 so i gues in multiplayer cpu is verry important wich results in huge bottleneck for me
