Latest Beta drivers crash my machine without flash player lol
I voted in your poll. Do you run Lucid MVP?
About flash player bsod:
I had it too, pretty much with all releases past 14.4, the only release which didn't have the problem for me was 14.6 beta 1 (not rc or anything, just beta 1). Which is the driver i kept untill i installed leaked/modified 14.x jst a few days ago, also with those i dont have the problem.
I use FF and i could make the bsod happen systematically (replicate) in this way: flash HW ON, microsoft fishbowl html5 benchmark with 2000 fishes tab open on the left side of the screen and then opening another tab, putting it on the right of the screen and let a youtube video run, result would be a bsod with atiumdag.sys iirc with all releases but the ones mentioned above (the only ones i didn't try were the 14.8 actually because they are originally for APUS and i expected amd to release normal version within 1 day or two).
If you want to recreate the bsod, try the above. =)
EDIT: flash player bsod was happening with 14.6beta1 aswell when i tried to downgrade flash player from 14th to 13th version, 14th didnt crash for me with 14.6 beta 1 but it did crash with all the other driver releases aswell, i'm not on flash 15 beta.
No, I don't run Lucid MVP, looks like I've checked it out before though as the link was already highlighted saying Id clicked it at some point
Looks interesting though
Seems quiet a bir users are having the BSOD problem. Then why can't AMD replicate the error internally?
The first possibility is that some users have very rare uncommon hardware . But in my case, my rig is pretty standart from well known brands.
Asus Maximus VI Hero
Corsair 8x2 ram
Sapphire R290 Tri-x
intel SSD 320gb
try what i wrote above, if we get enough people to bsod doing what i typed above then we know how to replicate it.
I don't have firefox, but i get bsod with Chrome.
I tried your senario with chrome , even tried it with more two video streams . No bsod .
I tried your scenario with chrome 38 (don't have firefox) and 14.8 and I cant make it to BSOD. That doesn't mean that I don't believe you or think that is your fault. I seen some weird s.... happening with 14 drivers and my card. Black screens from nowhere and BSODs when watching flash content I have it all but they stop some time ago. I had 6000 and 7000 series and never had one BSOD on flash. I dont know if is the drivers (this 14 branch), or this series - R9 200 is just f.... up.
Yes, it is definitely weird. I would not know about chrome as i do have it installed but I have not been using it for quite a while. If i recreate the scenario with chrome tho i get around 27 fps in fishbowl test and card clocks to 970hz as when i do it with firefox but with the latter i get around 55fps. Maybe a difference in how html5 is handled.
I remember, i think with 14.7 beta or so, that even the gog homepage (when it had the witcher 3 ads all over) was crashing as i believe that was html5 too.
I was able to recreate the bsod on another pc that has a 7950 installed using ff.
In the end, what a mess =)
Quite a few pages to this thread, only got to page 7 before jumping to the end. (sorry)
i tried 14.4 WHQL this weekend, since I just started Wolfenstein: The New Order, and it bitched about me having 13.12.
It installs fine, but I had immediate issues with BlackScreens (PC was fine apart from the no-video) and horizontal stripe-flickering (not entire width of screen).
It did it in Wolfenstein, Lost Alpha, and Skyrim.
Went back to 13.12, and I've still had a couple of Black screens, albeit after 2Hrs+ of Lost Alpha.
Have not used DDU or anything, never had to before with AMD, on any of my previous cards.
Will be trying this driver tonight, and hoping the blackscreen is gone.
Might try a DDU as well just in case.
This is the most trouble I've ever had with a GPU driver, if it is the driver at cause....
"black screens" have nothing to do with drivers. From my experience , they are DOA cards .
If of course, we arent talking about the same "black screens"
May I ask what happened to LCD overdrive in these drivers? Last time I saw CCC i am sort of sure that option was still available. Not sure if I need it with a catleap 60hz over DVI though still would appreciate any ideas as to when it went and whether or how to get the idea back.
I thought it would be a pro project to try DDU tool (remove previous driver traces) before trying 14.8 whql - my amazing 6970 is getting old now and VLIW architecture stopped there kind of thing. Well anyway, I have to report that there is much less display latency after using DDU and installing 14.8 drivers then there were on previous beta 6 drivers. (200.something). DDU really seems to have done some magic to my FPS, I don't have silly mouse lag I had been putting up with.
If you know what you're doing, download DDU and run it in safemode before installing these drivers would be my honest suggestion if like me you've been installing a few driver s in windows 8 >> 8.1. Many will disagree, but there it is.
Black screen hangs occur very frequently on 260X cards with almost all drivers from 14.4 onwards. The 14.x line of drivers have been atrocious on all generations of AMD cards for us.
If you don't do a manual cleanup then there's a chance the unstable clocks for GPU/memory in the Catalyst profile for 14.4 are still being applied and causing continuing instability even with the older driver.
Believe it or not, but yesterday I was using DXVA in mpc-hc, and was seeking a large file quite often, and eventually got a BSOD via atikmdag.
I can watch hardware accelerated flash player media without any issues.
I think it's a case of "There are 2 types of AMD GPU owners, those who have experienced BSODs, and those that are going to"
well so far so good mind same prob i had for a bit some off my steam games i cant change res or the game just crashes for some reason
Was that in English?
is that you wanting to help or just be a
A gay banana ?
I could help if you made more of an effort.
