and mobile (OGL ES). Those are niche markets, not AAA developers.

the last AAA title i can recall using it was RAGE, and it stank.

After some testing with the new bf4 patch, and due to the "kind" of new stuttering I had I suspected from it to be something related to the way mantle uses cpu or the new frame pacing feature...so I decided to introduce some lines in a user.cfg file and voila!!...now I have for the very first time a playable mentle bf4 WITH VSYNC!!...for all of you like me with problems just try to make a user.cfg with these lines (all very well know):

    GameTime.MaxVariableFps 60
    RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 1
    RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
    RenderDevice.FramePacingMethod 0

Now game runs perfect at 60fps running the new API BUT:

-There is a BRUTAL stutter at some point in the match (just one)...dont know why but it doesnt interfere enough in the whole match to ruin experience.

-Vram usage still being almost maxed out (2920MB max I have seen). Not sure if this is fine for some reason.

Other than that the game runs GREAT...now I can max out everything (even terrain decoration setting in medium which is max due to the ****in bug) and 4x MSAA for the most time (some drops to 55 or something like that) but the game is really rock solid at 60fps (specially if running al maxed+2xMSAA which I think is the nice point as 4xaa seems to be a bit bugged).

Anyway, the game is not running "faster" in the max fps but only in the minimum (the most important of course) which was the cause of the absurd stutters in most maps..now all those stutters with no reason are gone in mantle (with the cfg of course). But We are still waiting the so expected improvements in performance for our cards, I mean raising the max fps and general performance.

Another nice thing is thatt there is almost zero mouse lag in mantle with vsync.

I can now run zavod in max setting and 4xAA at almost 60fps all the time which was something absolutelly imposible before.

Despite all that I still hoping AMD to release the performance improvement driver but looking how good the game runs now without the drivers optimizations I guess I will be able to run all maps at max with 4xMSAA.

Hope you guys with same problems as me could now start to enjoy since today a little glipse of bf4 in mantle. :)

Pretty much all those 14.x drivers are terrible.

They're amaaaaazing, but only for BF4. If you wanna play anything else, too bad.

They give HORRIBLE stutter on pretty much every other game I play, Diablo3, WoW, skyrim, anything.
The desktop performance is also terrible, EVERYTHING stutters, firefox, folders, youtube videos makes firefox crash randomly, It's a complete mess.

But with the 13.12, performance is great again.

    So I gotta pick:

14.x: Great for BF4, sucks for everything else
13.12: Great for everything but BF4.

I really hope that AMD can wake up and stop taking 1 step foward while taking 2 steps backwards. Nvidia will not wait for them, theyre already planning a driver that can beat Mantle performance: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-driver-update-direct3d-optimization,26381.html

Heh you discovered this now for VSync gameplay?

It's been covered endlessly for more than 2 years now. VSync is generally terrible on any graphics card if you don't cap framerate, and in BF4 if you don't disable frame pacing.

The people you see with no issues (including me)? We don't use VSync (me not anymore - no point at 110Hz).

Those who do face issues are generally using VSync, and most I've seen don't bother to tweak around a bit. They just rage ;)

my motherboard was faulty so i bought one as a quick fix so haven't tested mantle on bf4 after latest patch but i can actually play with mantle now. i'm getting 96FPS on everything high no aa no ambient occlusion just switched lightning quality to medium and I'm running 2560x1440 @ 96Hz. i'm getting almost no drops. i only tested naval strike.

So far mantle is working great.

Anyone else seeing like the bottom 1/3 of the screen flash with random garbage in bf4 every couple minutes for like 1 frame or so when using mantle?
Its like the earlier versions of mantle in bf4 when there where random hitches every so often, but now far less often but now with some artifact possibly like corrupted image of your desktop or something.

well...first of all, I just want to help.

Yes, I widely know about capping frame rate specially in bf3, so I have been using it for 2 years now. Also, I know that most people here with no problems in mantle is due to the fact that they are not using vsync (I posted it many days ago). Im one of those guys who cant play without vsync enabled.

OF COURSE, I have tested lots of commands in the cfg for bf4 to deal with the mantle problems BUT (and here is the important part) with NO SUCCES!...today, and after the release of the LAST bf4 PATCH, I tried again and that conbination worked...so I came here to try to HELP many other mates here who I know have problems with bf4 mantle as me and maybe dont know (not everyone here is as wise as you)/dont have by chance any cfg being used right now for bf4 because in previous attempts didnt worked.

I really cant understand why you came here to criticize something that can be very helpful for someone just because you already know it...and you arent even using vsync..wtf is wrong with you man??

ESO performance is also pretty bad, i get 30-33fps in some zones.

Not sure if driver related though.

I get low fps in some areas but I found my minimum FPS is higher when I set affinity to non-hyperthread cores with Process Lasso.

Latest BF4 patch made Mantle playable on my 7870, much better than before. Noticed that it runs better if I turn off battlelog chrome window after I start the game.

Mantle is still ~20fps slower than DX on my 7870.

Thanks for your your tips but it doesn't help much on R9 290. Before the update it was smooth as butter but now it stutter like hell with V-sync on. Maybe it works better on 7000 series.

Sorry to read that mate!!:bang:...try leaving frame pacing enabled...

For me, as I said, this is the first time those parameters works fine to get a perfect mantle performance(maybe just because now triple buffer in mantle seems to be corrected)...I have been playing in siege of shanghai and...OMG!!!!...I can play completely maxed out in 64 player mode at 60fps 99% of the time, even when the skyscraper falls down ...before the map was just unplayable with riduculous frame drops to 30fps at some points...I love mantle and I will do it even more when AMD release the ****ing drivers with the optimization for 7xxx series...meanwhile I will use this cfg.

These drivers are ridiculous, I can have my R9 290 running at 100% for a week, no crashes, no issues at all.

I run a 2d application or watch a youtube video and I get a BSOD. Ridiculous. Never had to worry about dumb things like this with nvidia.

I know. Is embarrassing. I hope they fix this annoying problem that plague 14 beta drivers in WHQL realise but I had some ridiculous problems with nvidia to.
