    .NET v4.5 Update

    [ EDIT: Well, this .NET update didn't really help... my system still reboots randomly with .NET v4.5 and Catalyst v13.8 Beta2. Had to revert back to .NET v4.0 and Catalyst 13.6. Bummer! ]

    Just thought I'd share this in case someone else has problems after installing Catalyst v13.8 Beta2, or rather after it installed .NET Framework v4.5.

    On Win7 x64 I had weird problems with those drivers (slow desktop, slow CCC, problems in Splinter Cell Blacklist), and after installing the following .NET update, things seem much better (basically back to normal). Perhaps it works for others too, can't say.

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36359

    Why it helped with framerate fluctuations in Blacklist makes no sense, as it's not written in C# ... :)

    On another matter: I imagine this was already posted and I can't remember on which site I got it, but if you want to prevent the v13.8 drivers from installing .NET v4.5 (i.e. if you already have v4.5 on your system and don't want it to be buggered up), then:

    - Run the Catalyst 13.8 installer as usual and wait for it to extract its files (by default to folder "C:\AMD\AMD_Catalyst_13.8_Beta2");

    - When the AMD Catalyst Install Manager appears, click Cancel and close it;

    - Go to folder "C:\AMD\AMD_Catalyst_13.8_Beta2"\Packages\Apps" and delete the entire "DotNet45" subfolder;

    - Go back to the root folder and run "Setup.exe" to install the drivers.

    This driver causes Heroes of Newerth to run at 60 FPS! Also huge frame drops.

    i had like 200 fps during the picking stage and now i have 25-30.

    I did disable Vsync in my control panel & ingame. i'm not a newbie :3eyes:

    I´d play Diablo III yesterday and had a lot of image´s stuttering with 13.8 B2. This happens when I pointed mouse on bodies and other stuffs. And then I reinstaled WHQL 13.4 and 13.5 CAP1 and works pretty well.

    Completely unstable when using two screens (extended).
    Crashed when running windows experience index.
    Crashed when playing videos in browser on different screens.
    Desktop and mouse pointer corruption at some points.
    Projector sometimes recognized as TV.
    Forgets which desktop the icons and start menu belongs to.
    Some random crashes when playing games (my computer do not usually crash)

    PER AMD, does not support multiple screens.

    Wait, what does this mean? That this driver doesn't support dual (or triple) monitors in general, overall use? Or is that only speaking of game play?

    multiple screens isnt the same as eyefinity, which this driver doesnt support. multiple screens are fine. heck, i'm using two screens right now.

    eyefinity is anything more than one screen im afraid.

    Does not support=May work, may not work, ymmv.

    "Supported for DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 applications, and resolutions up to and including 2560x1600 (single display)."

    per release notes.

    It mentions this under the frame pacing section though specifically; but surely setups without frame pacing enabled are fine?

    I will have to disagree

    http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-eyefinity-technology/Pages/eyefinity.aspx

    eyefinity is 3 or more (6) screens that are merged (not extended) into one screen. this way, when you fire a game, game sees all displays as one gigantic one.

    2 or even 3 displays simply connected to the card is not eyefinity because you fire up a game and it shows up on the main (nr 1) display and besides, eyefinity didnt bring it, multiple displays was available before so I think you're missing the concept here with eyefinity.

    Eyefinity works with these drivers. The only part that doesn't work with Eyefinity is the frame pacing. You can enable it or disable it and it makes no difference while Eyefinity is enabled. Hardcops review says that Eyefinity and DX9 support is coming at some point.

    "Supporting multiple independent display outputs simultaneously"

    2 is multiple.

    again, depends on how you wish to interpret it.
