So since GCN cards are getting the shaft (w/ Mantle), will these soon-to-release drivers have anything in the way of benefits for them?

Nobody here knows what the driver is including, other than Mantle on Windows (afaik). You'll have to wait for the release notes.

I have had issues with all the latest drivers aswell. Skyrim things fly around and water makes splashing sounds and flickers when I walk and dead space 3 dead bodies always fly all around the rooms. Really strange im guessing its a crossfire issue.

All GCN cards are supported in the new drivers, they keep talking about optimization, but that's always the case.

Awwwwww, dammit -- I just learned that Mantle will only show improvements in BF4 alone when it first releases!

Even worse, it appears that Mantle is really only half the equation -- improvements will only come if and when a game company does a massive overhaul of their game code to implement the Mantle API instead of DX.

That sucks! That's going to be a massive undertaking for game companies, and for something that will only benefit half of their userbase (where's the incentive on their part? they have peanuts to gain from doing such).

Time will tell how much of a good thing this ends up being -- in the long term -- but in the short term, it seems we're going to see very little in the realm of game improvements ...at least, besides BF4.

If I'd known that Mantle was only going to show any possible/tangible improvements in BF4, I would've kindly shown my excitement to the door a long time ago :/ I was really hoping we'd see all around improvements in games that are already around, like Skyrim.

The release information for Mantle has been a vapid cluster****, and it wasn't helped any by pushing its launch back to February. Although, knowing what I know now, I guess that doesn't matter much, since it seems like it's really only for BF4 anyway.

    Time to change my sig:

^ You know nothing about Mantle and your whole post is pointless, also this thread is NOT about Mantle...

You know, with that attitude, it's like when Microsoft release a new D3D version (11.2) did you think by installing Windows 8.1 all the games you have automatically run on this new D3D? Mantle is an API, just like D3D, and the game needs to be written with it, it's not a wrapper.

What we need, and what we are seeing, is game engines are taking it up, including Frostbite 3 and Nitrous, meaning, when a game dev decide "lets make a game, ok so what engine do we want to use?" If they chose Nitrous they could easily implement Mantle as well as D3D, because it's optimized for it.

Now what we don't know right now is if it's worth it. We will see in time, but if companies like Ubisoft like what they see, their engines will also support Mantle eventually.

This thread has totally been derailed, there is one user in particular who trolls the crap out of many of the threads in this section with basically his/her whining.

    Stay on topic.
