I was under the impression that ubersampling was rendering the same frame multiple times, then compositing the frames together for wicked sharpness and detail.

Weird how they list 3 fixes and yet people find all these other improvements. I wonder if they intended them or things just got better as a weird consequence of the listed fixes.

Idk. Sometimes it may just be the good'ol placebo effect, but there were a couple benches showing some improvements, huh?

I've had my own experience of things being fixed that I couldn't find any previous mentionings of. The fixes didn't appear in any release notes either, afaik.

One notable one was when Windows 7's blue, rotating, loading ring came up, it would flicker/stutter consistently for me. This was the case for any driver other than Windows 7's default driver... until 12.9 beta came out.

    hi everyone
    *keepers for me.
tried l4d,deadspace2 and witcher and no problems at all, less color saturation, than prevoius beta5,so sweetfx shines.

I'll have to try these out on the weekend when i have more time.

Anyone tried Far cry 3 7970 cfx with this driver ?

Does it get rid of the stuttering ?

Some testing regarding flickering, game smoothness. Long tests this time:

    Witcher 2 EE
    - No flickering observed
    - Game is much more smoother even with Ubersampling
    - probably small trouble with lightning in cave, have to verify with different driver.

    Skyrim
    - Runs much more smoother. I was able to hit 60FPS on many areas
    - "Skin" Flickering present (Fade out flickering)
    - "Facial" Flickering identified as an overclocking-related issue. Will be no longer monitored from my side.

    Civilization 4
    - DX9 flickering did not reocurred
    - Flickering during fade out of destroyed units observed (same as "Skin" flickering in Skyrim)

    World of Tanks
    - DX9 flickering did not reocurred
    - Smoothness also improved

Also one friend of mine reported that Catalyst 13.2 Beta 6 improved his Windows Experience index in graphics from 7,7 to 7,8 with HD 5850

    To Orthello:
According to my knowledge FC3 and Crysis3 stuttering is still target of the driver team.

    To Mac:
Everywhere. Flotsam, beginning, scenes. Its bit slower only at the beginning of the game when you look at the catapults... And yes I have single HD 7970.

That seems strange as AMD's SSAA is many times faster.
Yeah I think I read that somewhere but not sure if it's true. I guess it would have a great impact as it would use twice the draw call count. I'm not sure how AMD's SSAA works, but with this difference in frame rate I would guess it renders at 4 times the standard resolution and then doing downsampling, which would require more vram but less draw calls. I really need to read up on this...

Read some speculations about Nvidias SGSSAA on some forum, and they thought it was done by rendering the scene multiple times.

If someone has a link to correct information it would be awesome!

I believe that new WHQL driver is now released every three months... Correct me if I am wrong.

Try this one. I believe that there will be new beta every few days, but its the best driver I used since March 2012.

BF3 runs great with these, I can even run ultra textures without stutter now it seems. Best drivers I have had for some time.

Well I think the game stutters from a different reason than video driver.

Two days ago when Beta6 was released I start to test it and I got terrible stutter and artifacts in game. After few crashes I was unable to boot, so I decided to go to Bios and turn off SATA adapter. Then I was able to boot, so i disconnected and reconnected harddrive, and when I enabled SATA adapter I set it to AHCI mode (was in IDE legacy mode previously).

Since then most of stutter is gone. But ... I cant tell you if you have/dont have similar bios setting or SATA cabling problem.

Perfect for me means 60 FPS on full settings and vsync. Almost perfect anything between 30 and 60, without stutter, sudden framedrops or input lags on same settings.

im actually really happy with these drivers, more than I have been in a long time. Dishonored still has some issues on my 5850m, but with textures to medium it plays smoothly. Not sure what the issue is, it even stutters a bit when the main menu loads.
Other than that, games like deux ex human revolution, la noire, skyrim, oblivion, battlefield 3, guild wars 2, shogun 2 and almost everything I play feel so much smoother than before.

Does this beta includes the latest CAP? Or it is necessary to download it from somewhere else?
