I have noticed when I log onto my desktop, I get artifacts and flickering after the Sapphire TRIXX utility loads. I have to temporarily change my desktop resolution and then change it back to it's native resolution to fix the flickering. This started after installing 12.9 Beta. Does anyone know the cause and the fix for this?

Its because powerplay is constantly changing clocks from 2d to 3d speeds. The only way around this is to force constant voltage of your overclock. You can do this in ab by setting "forced voltage" to on or by changing the cfg file for unofficial overclocking to 2.

I do not know if trixx has an option like this or not. I just leave my cards at stock on desktop then change them to My Oc profile just before I game.

It's because TRIXX has the "unofficial overclocking" effect enabled by default (the same one as Afterburner) and causes the desktop flickering.

I have the same problem with this driver.

Woot! Unofficial overclocking set to "2" worked.
    TRIXX doesn't have the option.
Still need to use the unofficial overclocking patch (the two "amd .dll" files) for afterburner tho - with 12.9.

EDIT: Yeah, as soon is i switched profiles to lower clocks - flickering came back. :nerd:

Only way to get rid of it is changing resolutions.

I don't want to be one of "those guys" again, but is there any word on the horizon of the next release? Tweets from the Catalyst guys or anything?

thats strange. Is the voltage at stock when you change it back? i dont have this problem, i can set any clock/voltage at any time without the flickering continuing (it may flicker for a split second when first changing). what i would do with ab is set profile 1 to completely stock and save as such, then use the others as your oc profiles. Ab uses the 2d clocks/voltages from profile 1 by default.

yea I forgot to include the .dll's that need to be inserted.

Yes profile 1 is at stock settings.
Yeah voltage reverts to stock when i change it back.
As soon as i change it back again to higher clocks, flickering disappears.
When i switch it back to stock, flickering is there.
I have voltage control, monitoring to off. Force constant voltage to on.

Could it be that the two .dll files i have are of a different version or something? :nerd:

The dlls shouldn't affect it in that way. Instead of doing "force voltage" just change the uom in the cfg to 2 and insert "I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it" into the EULA in the cfg Without the quotes (just above the uom line). Turn off "forced voltage" in the ab settings.

    Give this a whirl.

Excellent, I just got my second HD7970 for some crossfire goodness and boy oh boy does it work great! 120+fps in BF3 at Ultra @ 1080p (I really do need a higher res screen now lol) but any improvements with new drivers is always welcome ;)

You can try this Update for W8
    Windows8-RT-KB2756872-x64.msu
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34908
    Please report if it works:nerd:

Thanks. Got the driver working in Windows 8. Is there a way to remove the Test Mode watermark text?

Edit: Nevermind. I used "My WCP Watermark Editor" and now it's gone.
