Hey guys. Just registered to post this. I've been following guru3d for a while. This driver is the best for me so far. Was on 12.4. (12.6 and 12.7 beta, no good here) Fixed Skyrim, had huge stuttering before in outside areas and flickering with AA on, now both problems gone. Crysis 2 is running flawless, tesselation sometimes was giving me really low fps. Crysis Warhead is smooth now with 8x AA. In GTAIV I had some bad stuttering too, now gone.
I feel I can finally enjoy crossfire now. And also no problems with scaling anymore (not related with crossfire). With one 6850 I didn't have any of this issues.
Will test some other games soon.
(sry for any mistakes in english.. not my native language)
So far i have found out that Firefox does end in a artifact mess after a short time.
However Waterfox (64Bit firefox) seems to work 100%.
In every single driver, AMD fix one thing, and **** up another..
So it seems your problem is firefox.....try using chrome.
I don't use Firefox anymore, Chrome user here.
Yeah, strange it happend on this driver, and not any previous, dont you think?
i bought my 7970's on release, and i have been through 20 driver releases (i have counted, have all of them on my hdd), and now firefox is ****ed up.. so dont come here and play smartass.
The problem is not firefox, its the AMD drivers that is crap.
And the idle issues on my second card, which started with 12.7 Beta, and NOT ON ANY PREVIOUS DRIVERS, is still not fixed. even a fresh windows install did not fix it..
You need to watch your tone, as i stated try using chrome, i use IE9 and chrome and i have never had any issues. Im not trying to be a smart ass as you pointed out, save yourself the hassle and try another browser.
So AMD's high end cards cant suddenly use Firefox?
How is that acceptable? a high end dual card solution cant use firefox? is that Ok in your eyes?
No its not, not at all.
that's almost the opposite experience I had on my setup.
12.4-12.6 had stuck idle clocks on the 2nd gpu.
12.7b fixed it. Haven't had any issues with firefox except that once with Flash player "protected mode"
How come the ghz edition cards do NOT require an updated Bios, but the non ghz editon cards do? (Also applies to cards flashed with ghz edition Bios=2d voltage back again at 0.85v=no 100% fan black screen anymore.
Does vsync work with these drivers and like i have 3 screens not in eyefinity and it doesn't work in BF3, why that **** cant amd fix the vsync problems with more then one damm screen.
Why the **** cant amd fix their drivers?
identical screens? what kind of cable connections?
not all boards need a bios update with the normal 7970's , i'm using a 2.5 year old bios on my rampage 2 extreme , and 7970 crossfire has worked awesome from day one , the 12.8 is just the icing on the cake
Loving it
This is as good a place as any to ask.
Asder, AMD don't have working drivers for The Amazing Spider-Man game, will there be a CAP released for it before the next scheduled screw-up maintenance on September 12?
12.8 catalyst works fine for me.
no hdmi issues. no dxva or flash playback issues, and no sticky clocks.
works just like 12.7b
12.8 is working well for me too. I seem to have gained about 10fps on BF3 and with Unigine benchmark. (was using 12.6 before)
I have the most up to date BIOS for my board. Not sure what else I can do there. Newest version was released 08/07/12... /shrug
This driver is poor for my 5850. World of warcraft and other games are laggy and choppy, textures look a bit washed and even if I have 100 fps rotation is still choppy.
No errors or crashes just a slow ass driver.
12.7 beta the one from 29th is much better.
At last, they crashed twice my system... gone back to modded 12.4 18 april...
