TSW is running like complete garbage on my 6990, no matter what settings, DX mode, or whether or not CF is enabled or disabled. At absolute lowest settings - all sliders to 0, tess disabled, no AO, no AA, no motion blur, I get drops down to 20fps. Kind of silly.

What I don't get is a mate with 2 7970s is having no problems at all even with CF enabled as long as he runs DX9. Le sigh

Maybe it's an issue with 5000 series crossfire as he is using...?
My brother gets ~140fps (seen him drop under 60 in some areas though, looks like game problem, not graphics) on a 6850 and i52450. I haven't been game enough to try it though on mine...

For those of you running Windows 8, does the CCC give you profiles, ability to turn off.on CFX, etc?

I am running Server 2012 and I have virtually no settings available in CCC.

I hope the next release changes it.

I believe it's an issue with both 5xxx series card and anything using multiple GPUs (either nVidia or AMD). At least from what I can gather in that thread. I'm sure even a 3770K and dual 7970s can polish this particular turd, though ;)

I'd be curious to see what the GPU/CPU usage is like on yours though (if you don't mind having a quick look).

Good for you but it plays horrifically on my 6950, and there was a massive thread about AMD card performance issues a long time ago, it was never resolved. One day I guess I'll go the green team and then I'll enjoy SR3. But not for a while, my card still does the job well more often than not, so I'm still staying for the foreseeable future.

Ok this is the confirmed benchmark status from my HD7900,,

I tested all drivers from 12.7 Beta to 12.11 Beta 11, result is that the 12.10 WHQL is the best in performance. 12.11 all the betas has a horrible frame drop for me on almost all new games. Not at all good..:3eyes:

Hope AMD releases a driver soon ..

    AMD auto-update notification

AMD will be removing the auto-update notification functionality from versions of AMD Catalyst™ Control Center running under Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, beginning in early 2013. Due to a minor security vulnerability in the auto-update notification, users are recommended to update to the latest AMD Catalyst™ driver release from the amd.com web site. Alternatively, users should (i) uncheck the “Automatically check for updates” option under AMD Catalyst Control Center > Information > Software Update, and (ii) choose to “Skip” notifications from the AMD Catalyst driver, which notifications recommend updating to the latest driver.

Yes, I have full profiles and the ability to enable/disable x-fire in Win8 with 12.10 and 12.11 drivers.
As a matter of fact there is an extra option on the x-fire enable/disable screen that has a check-box for "Enable AMD CrossfireX for applications that have no associated application profile" also, that isn't present in WIN7 with the same drivers.

How bloody long do AMD/ATI holidays last lol
there taking the piss like where the hell is the latest beta arghh...... they better get cracking on fixing the GCN memory architecture cause its fooked.

and also in most games for me the core speed does not match the performance speeds...
for instance in assasins creed the minute you hit boston your frames tank and when they tank i mean they tank and when it goes down i look at gpu usage and its not even high :/

low frames + low gpu uage = something wrong here.
and the flickering desktop spikes and flickering memory spikes in games is annoying
i think they need to redo the graphics drivers and split them up so that there is a dedicated 7 series drivers only ect ect that way they can work from the ground up properly for the cards instead of working around every bloody card, and dont tell me these memory spikes are dx9 related only as they do happen with dx11 games aswell just not as frequent or to a higher degree, and also games freezing is annoying aswell..

dont think its faulty graphics card related as i can run furmark and heaven until the cows come home and no freezing...

    GET A MOVE ON AMD/ATI.

Oh and before i forget, utube and lovefilm and some other web players are all stuttering why ?????? weird dam stuttering for no reason at all, they can be smooth one minute and freeze then stutter then play again for a minute then repeat lol

Whoa whoa whoa, back off the hostility bro. You should have no problems playing this game on your card. Do what you will I'm not telling you what to do...I just chimed in on my experience with the game.

Well... I wasn't going to try, but since you were interested...
    Using these settings: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/594739931315325575/3A16E24755AD3D495646C5931EAE15F5921AFBC1/
At first when there's hardly any objects around I get an average of 60 fps and 99% GPU usage (those temps aren't too nice though it's 39*C here). CPU seems to be running at 100% all the time...
    http://i.imgur.com/tj1lW.jpg
When I got out into the open world with a lot of objects the GPU utilization dropped to 70% and so did the frames to ~37FPS.
http://i.imgur.com/ki3KD.jpg EDIT: just realised probs NSFW
Things start to get unplayable when I start driving...
It seems to average around 25FPS with GPU using 57%

Things might be better though if I turn off motion-blur ect but going to the low preset didn't really help the fps and made things look unbearably horrible.

sounds to me like you need a new CPU, that x2 isnt going to cut it for modern games..

Your usage drops because your CPU cant feed information to the card fast enough to keep it busy. Physics calulations take a lot of cpu, and a 2.9ghz x2, even at 3.1ghz just isnt enough.

Yeah ofc... My system was quite unbalanced from when I bought it ($70 CPU, $180 GPU) in 2009... Though games didn't use anywhere near as much of the CPU as they do now (especially physics)...
The .2 OC was out of frustration when I first played BF3 (pretty much the first game I had problems running) and surprisingly helped a lot without hardly raising temps on stock cooler so I kept it.
I've been trying to gather enough to build a new computer, I kind of have enough and have already bought a SSD (not exactly what I planned to buy first, then again I planned to buy a new comp when Ivy/7000s were out.. oh well). I'll be buying an AMD gcard for sure since I've rarely had any issues with drivers (with those being minor and usually fixed in leaked/beta) and used to run this 5750 at some nasty OC's for a few years in the winter in which it handled extremely well. At least it seems when I'll have my new comp ready to use, most driver problems will be out of the way...

Back on topic (kind of) though, I did see some flickering while the cut-scenes were playing in SR3, not sure if it's caused by these drivers or not since I've never played it before.

I would think AMD cannot hastily release a new driver because everyone and their mother is going to install it and test to see if any frame latency issues have been fixed.

So until AMD gets a handle on that, its probably going to be quiet for a bit.

Yeah, wasn't there a Twitter entry from one of the Catalyst devs saying it wasn't far off (and that was a few weeks ago)?
