my 2500k pegs all four cores also, so you may be correct.

It may just be inherent in the engine to use all the resources it can get its grubby hands on.

i poked around on the ID formus, it seems the same with a vast majority of people.

naw, not jelly, imma snag an Ivy Bridge when they come out...lol

Just an addendum: I'm not sure the renderer is either CPU or GPU bound. The game feels silky smooth - the movement even better than in Doom 3. Strafe / circlejumps seem to be there.
Probably the bottleneck here is the overall system bandwidth, and not MIPS, in either the CPU and the GPU.
With 9.11 WHQL both CPU and GPU are seldom over 60%, not even heating too much; that's why I rage :)D) because I sense wasted or improperly used cycles.

And I do want to love the game for which I went to great lengths to have it on my rig.

The Mac - I could bet you that even The (Car)mac(k) himself wouldn't write a "properly" multithreaded renderer with equal loads across the cores in the given time (7-8 years), not that it would be impossible, but simply too much fuss for too little return. 10-20 GFLOPS seem enough for 1-2M tris and rather limited physics + the unpacking and hash lookups we're faced with today.

If u saw the official forums u know its full of outraged gamers who payed the full amount for the game but cant get it to work......also bethesda/id gave a very modest minimum configuration to get the game to work and while u may have a decent high end config most of us mid-ranged ones cant get it to work.......u see my point here, the game was never supposed to have a requirement of a high end PC to get it to work and because of the idTech5 engine, we guys cant get it work for our PCs.....i dnt wish to argue anymore, just hope that u see the point here :)

if you look above, youll see foxx has a c2d, and a 4850 and says its silky smooth

his rig is clearly mid range.

so something else other than horsepower is at issue with your setup.

Ive been through the offical ID forums, and there is allot of people complaining, no doubt

what you DONT see is how may people have no issues, so dont post.

    vocal minority and all.

The graphics and textures in this game look like cartoon drawings from Beavis and Butthead. I was sadly disappointed after downloading 27gb worth of data.

sorry guys ... for noob people like me, could u tell me, if I don't want to uninstall my 11.10pre but "fix" Rage with this driver, which dll should I take and in which folder should I put it?

'cause some pages ago an user posted a mediafire link to download this: atioglxx.dll

is it the only one? are there more? which ones?

    p.s. I'm on a x64 machine :) notebook indeed .. !

just the atioglxx.dll, and drop it in the directory where the game executeable is.

this will override the installed ones, and work just for rage.

Renaming the .dl_ to dll doesnt work does it? I get an error.
Can someone tell me how to easily get this dll file without installing the drivers? I need the 11.10 for BF3.

    Nvm: found the mediafire upload.
update2: Rage instantly crashes with that dll.

the .dll_ is compressed, u need to unzip it with 7zip...

i wouldnt trust mediafire, just take it from the update.

have you got the game to load with your current ogl?

have you gotthe game to load with your current ogl? (albeit badly perhaps)

it needs to have some version installed first, then you can drop the new dll...

Yes, it starts fine with the normal 11.10 drivers, but with the texture problems.

    it should work.

right click dll and check properties for version info, if you dont get the right info, it wasnt extracted correctly.
