Easy until the driver install starts and then stops with an error and
you can't get back into windows.

    Thanks for all your help

    Both

Driver works fine here (win 7 x64)

I uninstalled the old one (TwL's driver 4.23a), rebooted in safe mode, then I cleaned using driversweeper/drivercleaner, rebooted, used "ati *** cleaner" and installed this new driver.

the **** cleaner does some mess and cleans to much in my mumble opinion.
i was at the point that the monitor switched off on its own coz cannot find any driver.
in ati **** cleaner, i suggest to say no, when it asks to clean the drivers of windows.
Or i suggest to use driver sweeper instead of ati **** cleaner.
The only solution to the problem of monitor switching off, is to install an other video card and link the monitor to it. Then, when u will install the 10.10 d drivers the problem is solved and now u can use again the videocard that was giving problems..
I personally used embed video card to do that...

F8'ed and selected "boot to low rez 640x480" got into windows and installed the drivers.

    All is well.

Noticed an almost 10fps increase in BFBC:2 online play 32 player full.

    Plus it looks better!!! CLAP!!!

Do not uninstall Windows standard VGA driver!
Even if TwL's ****cleaner got it as an option it will make a mess for most systems doing a driver install.
If you did run it you either need to go via safe mode as described above or you can install the official catalyst.

PS. The official will install, so there is something wrong with the modded inf that breaks detection if you flush every single Windows display driver.

I ran the official install and added TwL's and Von Dach's tweaks afterwards instead.
On 10.10c though, seems to run slightly better on my system compared to 10.10d.

That's exactly what everybody should have! I'm waiting for you comparison, but don't expect more fps, in fact you should have less fps with a feeling that you have more because free of issues like jerkiness, fps drops, stuttering.

Ok, it's true that the install routine is maybe too elite for average joe, and just clicking "setup" should install all mod just fine, I'll update first post with that. Still I recommend TwL's cleaner as "the real way".

Except for the removal of the Windows Standard VGA driver, that really makes a mess when you try to reinstall.
I ran a full ATI/Nvidia uninstall and tried TwL's cleaner trough with all removal options, usually I leave the Windows Standard VGA alone.
Result was that the modded driver could NOT detect the card as a valid ATI card and skipped the driver installation, it installed everything else.
So I did another full cleanup and checked with ATI's 10.10c official beta.
This did detect the card as a valid ATI and installed the driver as well.
So something got broken with the 10.10d mod.

Thanks for the CAP removal tool :)

I believe TwL means you need to remove all drivers until you have the standard VGA driver installed.
I cheated, removed all drivers except the default ATI driver and then manually installed the standard VGA driver, worked well for me, I dont know if its advisable though.

10.10d mod don't touch anything to the setup routine, I just changed some CCC default settings in the inf, but the inf in itself is the same. Something happened on your side, but it really can't be the little mod itself.

Might be the missing signature, maybe ATI changed something upon that.

Works great on all ends here friend! Thanks. I get 110-120+ FPS in Resident Evil 5 instead of 80-120. It's a lot more consistent too. Good work.

Thanks to report that, I hope other notebook users will try it to get a clear picture if it work or not, like I said, I don't have hardware to test it.
Can you install it manually from Device Manager? You won't have the CCC but the modded driver itself should install.
