Read my general tweaks, update PunkBuster as tell: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=327922

Still crashing? it's not your GPUs, your CPU is wrongly overclocked, bad BIOS settings probably the culprit.

I'm a BC2 player myself, PunkBuster clean updates + a more moderate overclocking fixed my CTDs.

With the modded driver? Try a CAP switch. I don't have that game myself.

Von, I am having almost this exact problem. I just got my Sapphire 6870, loaded it up with the cd drivers and it was perfectly fine. Then I installed 10.10 on top of the existing, then 10.10d.

After reading this thread I was optimistic and ready to do everything right. I followed the install readme completely and your advice to ducksauce:

-Uninstall and delete driver software in Device Manager
-Uninstall all ATI components using Catalyst Install Manager
    -Reboot
    -Run ati_****_cleaner.cmd
    -Reboot
    -Run driver sweeper
    -Reboot
-Run ati_****_cleaner.cmd and install modded inf

After restarting when the install was complete, my screen was black for a good 15 minutes (before Welcome screen) before manually powered down. Don't know why this happened? Each successive reboot comes up to Welcome immediately.

Now, I can't play any games. For example I load Call of Duty MW or WaW and can join a server but after the progress bar gets to 100% the screen goes black then a random color. It even crashed on me in iTunes as I was browsing cover art!

The driver tries to recover but usually doesn't, and the screen keeps turning black then a different color (pink, tan, green, or blue).

I made sure there were no traces of ATI left. Don't know what's going wrong but I want to scream it's so frustrating.

After the driver crashes, I go in the Event Logs and the Event Id is 1001. Source is "Windows Error Reporting". "Fault bucket , type 0" and Event Name: "LiveKernelEvent". Occasionally accompanying this error is another error from source "Desktop Window Manager" and says "The Desktop Window Manager has exited with code (0xc00002fe)."

I tried disabling dwm.exe in Services but that didn't help. Seems this is involved in every instance of the crashing.

    I am running Win 7 x64 on a C2Q Q6600 (2.4GHz), 6GB DDR2 800, 800W PSU, 60GB SSD.

I'd love if you or someone had suggestions for me! Thanks a lot and if you need more info let me know!

Well you thrashed the registry hard with that sequence!

The mod only change some shown and hidden CCC settings in the inf file + atiapfxx.blb (CAP) is 0KB. AMD setup routine, Install Manager is all intact. I can only recommend you this:

Uninstall everything ATI/AMD related from Control Panel. Reboot.

Reread included install.txt carefully and execute like tells.

Uninstall and delete driver software in Device Manager. Reboot

Run "ati_****-cleaner and installation v3.6.5.cmd". Close it when asked for modded inf (use only the cleaner part).

Run some more of the best registry cleaners:

    Driver Sweeper
    CCleaner Slim
    CCleaner Enhancer
    Auslogics Registry Cleaner
    Wise Registry Cleaner
    Wise Disk Cleaner
    TweakNow PowerPack 2010

    Reboot.

Run again ati_****-cleaner and installation v3.6.5.cmd to install modded driver.

i only uninstall drivers and install newones nowdays because it works
but this time i test this procedure

    i do this

Uninstall everything ATI/AMD related from Control Panel. Reboot.
Uninstall and delete driver software in Device Manager. Reboot
Run "ati_****-cleaner and installation v3.6.5.cmd". Close it when asked for modded inf (use only the cleaner part).

    i run
    Driver Sweeper
    CCleaner
    Auslogics Registry Cleaner
    Wise Registry Cleaner
    Eusing Free Registry Cleaner

...and guess what. Next hour i spend trying to get ccc work (and i get it work).
that install procedure is bullsXXt ,just uninstal drivers and install new ones. that is how i use to do it without any problems.

    ok, time for my report:
fallout NW: image quality is certainly better but the game is as jerky as before.
GTA IV Episodes: image quality is way better and everything is more detailed and sharper, it however makes the game to stutter a bit but i tried increasing the surface quality and disable surface optimizations in original 10.10d drivers and it made the game stutter a lot more, so with no doubts this modded driver is superior
Darksiders: for some odd reason the game was kinda jerky when using 4xAA , it seem to be smooth now :)
    UT3: looks better than ever

so yes, its no magic silver bullet but probably the next best thing.

Lol, this one may be a silver bullet, specially for dual core. I did a lot of tests before reporting this:

Disable High Precision Event Timer (HPET) in BIOS.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Precision_Event_Timer
    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=183329
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=4592036
My own result with DPC Latency Checker (http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml):

    HPET 64-Bit ON: between 100-150us
    HPET OFF: between 5-15us

I loss 3-4 frames per second, single card and CFX with HPET OFF, but I know responsiveness improved and chance of stuttering decreased accordingly.

Tried it with original 10.10d drivers still same so i don't think you're driver is causing the problem.

Reduce CCC.exe priority below normal to gain additional responsiveness and jerkiness reduction.

CCC.exe is a DPC hanger cause of stuttering, you can check that with Sysinternals Process Monitor & DPC Latency Checker.

    To reduce process priority: right-click taskbar> Start Task Manager> Processes> right-click CCC.exe> Set Priority> Below Normal.

The slower your computer the bigger the increase in responsiveness and stuttering reduction.

Install Prio to save the applied changes and each time you start this process from now on, it will set the saved priority for it. You will not have to change the priority manually any more. http://www.prnwatch.com/prio.html

    CrossFireX notes

If you are in a fullscreen game and switch (Alt-Tab) to an other process or minimize to Desktop/Start Menu, CFX will be disabled (single card mode).

If you activate Steam interface in a game (Shift-Tab), CFX will be affected, not disabled but reduced cards usage.

You have to quit game process and restart it to reinitialize full CFX usage in fullscreen.

Windowed 3D = single card mode (CFX inactive).

^ dude you are a god among men.. that HPET function in bios was the root of most of my jitterness in FalloutNV.. changing that indeed took my latency way down and now the game is smoother. I am going to try using your driver as well as turning down the CCC priority..

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Ehi Von thank you for your great driver.
I'm having a problem with Lp2: only 1 gpu works. The second one sleeps. I've tried everything: 10.10, hotfixes and caps. No way.
Crossfire is running very well in Lp2 Dx9, and other games (Bfbc2, Black Ops, Fallout New Vegas. Mafia II etc etc..). To exclude any problem connected with general dx11 Crossfire performance on my system i tried Unigine, and it runs well. Both gpu are working fine.
I just tried your drivers, with dummy cap and official cap. Same problem.

So the issue is present only in Lp2 Dx11. I really don't understand what's wrong.

First what is Lp2?? but anyway if it doesn't work on official driver release too, it's really only AMD who can correct that. Maybe you can try RadeonPro with alternative rendering modes (low probability of success through).

Well yeah.. it disables the High Precision Event Timer. :)

In a nutshell (from my understanding :nerd:) it forces your system to use a less accurate timer through the cpu instead of the chipset effectively reducing microstutter because lets face it.. forcing precision through Catalyst drivers... is like giving a sniper a flamethrower.

And yeap... disabling HPET is like I just traded in my stack-o-cards for a single gpu.
