AMD silently released R3 series of SSDs. The SSDs value oriented and use TLC NAND with a Silicon motion SM2256KX controller. This SSD will come with a 3-year warranty and is fully compatible with both... AMD Budget R3 Series SSDs spotted
480GB OCZ Trion 150 is about same price and performance. That SM2256KX, no other drives have it (at least not in quick google search). So, this may be design upon AMD's request. I think they may be nice for Raid 0. And very attractive for new system builds. And more drives with lower price, the better.
Hell they need to make and market as much parts as they can at this rate, Intel does the same thing but they actually remain in the higher-end of Ssd's. I wonder whats next>? Maybe a Radeon 1000 watt powersupply? Just imagine all your gear being from one vendor, would be cool to say the least.
But the EVO still suffers from electrical degradation of data at 3-6 months. You must keep your system powered on so the poor MGX controller can constantly move that data around or you get corruption and dirt slow read speeds as error correction takes place. Samsung has been blazing the way in technology but has a mountain of problems to go along with it.
