Wasn't the update patching the Spectre variant 2, aka branch target injection (CVE-2017-5715)?

They ignore how their CPU are built (dispatching wrong technical information to Microsoft) and they ignore what are the issues too.

Oh it's AMD PR marketing, never mind...

The more I read about these security flaws the more I want to change to Ryzen.

Every device has some form of vulnerabilities. It's just a matter of time when it's unveiled.

So, how will these users receive and apply the patch on non-booting systems?

Reformat and fresh install of Windows , non-booting refers to OS not PC

We are sorry that the patch we applied to your new car has destroyed your engine...you will have to rebuild your engine.

    So sorry.

I am seeing multiple post across internet from people saying that patch borked system restore, and that nothing besides fresh install helps.
That is for both AMD and Intel based systems.

I've stopped caring about all of this. No one is really going to lose performance and the media is really trying to make this into more than it really is.It's really not a big deal for the home user. This exploit has been around for 10 years. Just install the patches and move on. Nothing more to be seen here.

Can someone just briefly please explain what it is exactly that is going on? Is this only a performance hit on the Hardware side of things or will it affect programs and apps also? Thank you.My Windows 10 has been running like crap for the past 3-4 months so I was wondering if this was tied into that? Fx 8320 e (e is efficcient ) or Eco lol?

You probably want be affected because you have relatively new hardware,we are talking here about AM2,2+ era CPU's.For Windows running like a crap , well is there any other way that Windows can run besides like a crap ?? :):)
It is probably just Windows mixed some settings or what not, try system restore or fresh install
