Can't wait to see the HD 6870 or should I say the HD 6770 in action.

Companies shouldn't be allowed to re-brand old cards into new. NVIDIA is does it almost all the time trying to fool people. ATI has done it but not all that much. It's flat out wrong.

Then car companies need to stop re-branding the 2009 x car, the 2010 x car, with new seats.

No idea how legit these are, and Vantage isn't ideal for giving an idea gaming wise, but better than nothing, i imagine it would be an even smaller advantage over a factory overclocked GTX460, so if this is true, the 6870's will have to be cheap.

We need to put the hustle on our exports of .png's to China, they seem to be out of them.

10k in Vantaage ? That can't possibly be true.

My card does that. Maybe it was some extreme settings. Not sure, i'm not really in to vantage settings.

Yeah, ran Vantage myself last night and got just under 14k on the GPU score, so def not being run on Performance settings, which kinda kills the credibility even more of those.

It's kinda obvious that it's not the performance preset, distinguishable by the H preceding the score. It's the High preset, if it's legit

It's hard to say, but you can use the ORB stats to get a very vague idea. These were around H11000 when I looked
    http://service.futuremark.com/searc...=1&scoretype=1&scoreFrom=&scoreTo=&validity=0

One of the scores was a XFX5850 Black Edition that was supposedly at it's stock speeds getting a gpu score of 10323

Well it sugest that idd HD6870 will have similar performance to HD5870.

    That would be MOST impressive.

I heard not the case, the HD 6870 will be equal or just bellow the HD 5850 in performance and slower by 5% to 15% than HD 5870.

That is where AMD is going wrong. AMD plans on replacing the HD 5800 series with HD 6800 series ASAP to limit customer bewilderment.
How on earth can you have an older Generation beating out the new Generation? Problem here is naming them in the same performance class of HD 5800/6800 series where as they should have just stuck to it’s original name HD 6750 / HD 6770.. :3eyes:

Complete utter foolishness on AMD’s marketing part. I think AMD’s marketing department needs to lay off the alcohol beverages as of late.

The HD 6900 series, IMO is completely irrelevant when it comes down to the HD 6800 series. At the very least AMD should release both HD 6800 & HD 6900 together to completely eradicate the HD 5800/HD 5900 series to help mend upcoming customer confusion. :biggun:

Oh where art thow ATI. :)

Well, I completely agree. However, something similar that occurred not long ago comes to mind...queue in 8800GTX-->9800GTX and 8800GT-->9800GT. Sure the 9 series was a total side grade as far as performance goes in regards to 8 series, but because Nvidia rebranded, renamed, and reused G92 SO much, they were able to capitalize off of it and focus on making more money then spending it on a new level of hardware.

Well, i don't really see this as a rebrand in the same way as 8800GT-9800GT was, but unless the cards appear really cheaply, it will still look pretty shady on AMD's part.

The 6870 is rumoured to be 15-20% faster than stock GTX460, which makes it probably only 5-10% faster than most factory overclocked GTX460's, so will need to come in priced well under £200 here in the UK, especially when the 5850 can now be picked up for £190, and the GTX470 is starting at £210, i can't speak for other countries obviously, but i don't see it being much different elsewhere.

It seems that People doest remember The 2900 XT series from Ati and the 3800 Series. The 3800 were barely as fast as the 2900 but they were vastly improved in Architecture, less heat, less power use, ect. this just feels the same, but the only difference is that after this parts the real successors will come.
