Combine the power of a CPU and a GPU then tie a Northbridge into that product and boom -- AMD calls the end product an APU. We take a look at the AMD A8-3850 APU in combination with the new A75 motherboard...

So essentially an AMD 645 with Turbo boost(forgot whats it called) + better ram management + AMD 6550! Not bad i reckon

Looks good, great to see AMD releasing a new mainstream part, the IGP looks very impressive to say the least.

Hope we see more of the APUs in the market and AMD definitely needed a new product. Now give me Bulldozer!

I don't know if this is good or not, but it's refreshing to see my CPU back in CPU benchmarks lol, haven't seen my Phenom II 810 in years lol.

Might fit great for note pc. If I am to get notebook without overpriced videocards on it, this apu would be my call.

I hope it gonna be killer for pathetic intel graphics and bring more enjoyment into low-mid budget notepcs. Yeah, it shame you can't properly play puzzle games with intel graphics.

Fusion just seem to be great for games like bejeweled and other low-mid gpu requiring games. It really balancing cpu and gpu and pushing intel's weak point.

Notepc that can handle some puzzle games and be good for entertainment, is what gonna be probably required and AMD got it right.

    Go fusion!

CPU doesn't seem that great but for an IGP that's something different. Tempted by one of these for a home server, it's a really well equiped chipset.

Bull's eye! I what somewhat disappointed when reading the review, but then the article reminded me that the current line-up of Llanos still uses a K10 architecture.

Can't wait to see laptops sporting Llanos either! :)

Well I think that's more or less the actual point of this series of APU's. AMD knew that they couldn't win as far as cpu power goes, but a strong igp at a lower cost price for decent performance, AMD is going the price/performance route again with this.

I think this is just going to AMD's thing from here on in. AMD has an entire graphics segment to pull from...Intel has almost nothing graphical beyond displaying a screen.

I don't see how Intel can compete, at least on the graphics point, in the short term.

Intel's good at many things but falls flat on its face for graphics.

Yeah, cant figure out that one. With Intel being vastly richer company you'd think they'd have the best and brightest graphics techs. Must be very specialized field where very few specialists exist whom do not already work for AMD or Nvidia.

Well I know a couple of Intel's IGP chips are or were built off of PowerVR chips, that much I know. Now which one's were, I couldn't tell you.

I see AMD as sitting on a potential goldmine. APU/IGPs are a vaster market than discrete parts. If Trinity is done right, that could really upset the market.

It should, and it will run even better if you do a Hybrid Crossfire with the IGP with a Radeon HD 6670.

Yes, they will run WoW. Don't expect to use high or ultra setting though....should run well on medium settings.

Last I checked WoW were still a bit glitchy in DX11 though.

Then run it in DX9 then if 11 doesn't work o_O...

This is the Llano APU, not the AMD FX-series processor.

The point being that out of the Llano reviews I've read seem to indicate that Asynchronous CrossFire only works in DX10/DX11. DX9 usage results in no, or even negative, scaling compared to only using the discrete card.

Sadly WoW is one of the few games that actually perform better in DX11.

    Edit: Taken from AnandTech.

I am looking into the A8 3850 chip this is because of two reasons one I want a low powered system that can handle things from a multimedia point of view and two the processor and integrated graphics are more powerful than my set up lol :p
