Over at Hermitage Akihabara they have posted a couple of photo's and screenshots on the upcoming A10-7850K, and A10-7700K APUs. The content includes screenshots from CPU-Z but also a test run with ...

Not likely, unless they release the Jaguar style thing for FM2+. I am looking forward to Kaveri, though.

The cinebench score can't be right, my A10 6790K scores 311 at stock...
A time ago, we've also seen an A10 7850K overclocked to 4.9GHz scoring 548 cb. My 6790K scores at 5Ghz 385 cb. calculating with this picture, the A10 7850K should score 410-430 cb at 4.9GHz... I'd rather think that the A10 7850K should score around 390-400 points at stock.

    That's the single threaded benchmark...

The single core test says it scored an 88. 311 was for 2 cores 4 threads.

So it is still about 1/2 the performance per core of the i7 3930K which came out in November, 2011? I really hope Mantle gives them an edge SOMEWHERE... I like competition but AMD sure isn't bringing it of late...

its AMD here, how much power can they really sqeezy out of the wattage there doing? forget about the fact even if they where using same wattage as intel cpu, they still couldnt compete.

But then I have no interest in APU or mobile processors or AMD for that matter

The 3930 is 130W, the AMD chip is 95W TDP (stock). so 33% more power gives 45% more performance (rough math done in head). So, seems the i7 really is better performance/watt, though since you get 6 cores with the i7 and 4 with the AMD, the wattage per individual core should be about equal per CPU...

About the only thing AMD likely wins on is price/performance, but even that is likely only a small margin.

i really realy hope its an 8 core chip at atleast 3.2ghz at 65 watts (even 45w will be epic)

Or if programmers can start coding on opencl, i will need a butt load of compute power for h265 in the coming year or next.

Is this something that's going to compete? Or is it just a low power thing for average PC's?

Considering AMD just did a die shrink, i doubt they'll be using 20nm until after the refresh.

Compete with what? AMD has basically surrendered the high ground to Intel and none of the road maps that i've seen show a move to retake it. Pretty much all APU's with less than 768 SP's, which makes the best one much slower than the slow PS4/Xbone.

You're comparing a budget processor (AMD APU) with a High-end processor (i7 3930)..... FM2/FM2+ processors are intended to compete against the Celeron, Pentium and Core i3 processors......not the i5 and i7.... It's a bit asinine to think a budget processor would even come close to the performance of a high-end processor.

AMD's FX series processors are intended to compete against Intel's mainstream processors (LGA1155, LGA1150). AMD has nothing to compete against Intel's high-end processors (LGA2011).

It's a budget processor. It'll compete in it's intended market just fine.

Actually, Kaveri is considerably faster than Jaguar. You can't actually compare Kaveri to the Jaguar implementation in the PS4/Xbone because the operating systems are completely different. Windows has considerably more overhead than the OS used for either the PS4 or Xbone.

You make a very good point there, though I think the A10s can probably hold their own against some of the i5s. If AMD have done this properly, the 7850K will be a very, very good chip. They already hammer intel in the IGP department, and while it is a shame they aren't really bothering with the high end any more, they've got the exclusive run of this generation of consoles, which will help bring in some much needed funds for development of better products.

I don't really think making comparisons on power use is really fair because u have to factor in the igpu which destroys any i7 igpu. Also I think I read these are supposed to be 28nm and still cheaper then intels comparable cpu.

What does it have to do with this? A 3930K is also faster than the 4770k and?

Looking at this it's still a 15% performance increase in single threaded applications over Richland

To give you guys a metric to this performance, i just run cinebench on my laptop(ivy bridge, i3, 2,4ghz, hyperthreading)

Total score 204, single threaded 82, mp scaling 2,5x
