I have been looking at the amd 64 x2 processors and i wanted to know which is the best core to get in them? or does it matter? thanks
Don't know exactly what you mean, but the AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz is the best X2, and only $60. An amazing budget chip. Review here: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2008/12/15/amd-athlon-x2-7750-7550-cpus-review/5
I think your best bet is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103678&Tpk=AMD Athlon X2 7850 It's a K10 based dual core. However, I think you should go with the Phenom II 720 or wait for the Phenom II 545 (first Phenom II dual core) during the summer. deltatux
yeh 7750 is a good 1, there's a 7850 too but might not be worth the price premium if ur going to overclock
oh and I also realized something. You also need a new motherboard and RAM since your components are way too old for a new CPU drop-in upgrade. deltatux
that kinda changes everytjing lol, OP may I ask what ur computer is for? U planning to do an update anytime soon (CPU, motherboard especially) because if u are planning to, u could always wait a little longer and get parts that will last u for a while, just an idea
If you're looking at upgrading to a skt939 or AM2, then the Toledo is about the best core you can get for overclocking.
LoL, I ran 939 socket last summer and was interested in a fx-60, but they were all $300 atleast. For haha's I looked up what a fx-60 going for now and some guy has a new one going for 650$ buy it now, what a joke. you can get a amd 955, an am3 mobo, and some ddr3 for under that and spank that fx-60. funny stuff!!
Yeah it's the same over here. People are willing to pay $200 - $250 for a second hand 939 X2. You'd think they were made of solid gold or something....
