I'll take that with a grain of salt. Of course yields will improve over time in all cases, that's the nature of the game, but I doubt they're truly that bad right now. It's AMD's third 40nm chip, I think they have the hang of it by now.
Well i remember news article during august that Nvidia had booked up pretty much all the 40nm wafers leaving AMD with very little, maybe this is why theirs going be a shortage.
The time of the truth is getting close, cant wait, **** the yield issues we want the cards!!!!
Yea, ''poor'' them...
AMD should still present some real samples on 19th.
So we can read reviews until cards are in the shops
Bump for this I have no plans for upgrading, but there's always room for more hardware porn. Reading geforce 460 reviews has grown stale.
If the rumours are to be believed then the 6870 will have 960 shaders??
That seems a little low compared to the 5870 which comes with 1600??
I can not see, ROP, or a Bus increase speeding up the card to be faster than a 5870.
Unless they have reached a stupidly high clock speed on the core? 1GHz+?
As has been mentioned in many of these threads before, the 6870 will be an upgrade from the 5770. They are shifting the numbers. The 5870 equivalent will be a 6970, and the dual GPU variant should there be one will be a 6990.
I don't see much point in upgrading from my hd 5850, only game i struggle with at 1920x1080 is metro but im blaming that on poor coding even though it does look nice. I feel like a terrible human being for not upgrading though, anyhoo can't wait to see the dual gpu benchmarks.
another pointless thread. No offense to OP, but 90% of the news regarding 6000 series is a mixture of 50% FUD, 25% disinformation, 24.9% speculation, and 0.1% truth.
try installing the ati stream sdk 2.2 kit to activate openCL. metro2033 apparently uses openCL so it should improve framerate a little.
