    That's exactly it! Normally I get bored watching gameplay videos but Isolation I could watch multiple times, it's the atmosphere and visuals and sounds all coming together for a beautiful cinematic experience.

    If you have the flamethrower it's best to always have it equipped when you hear the alien coming. Then you can burn the **** out of it and it will leave.

    Has anyone played as the original crew yet? (Crew expandable)

    I played as Dallas and tried to lure the thing into the main airducts, but somehow i dont have any weapons with me, just flares? Am i missing something?
    When entering the ducts i cant even walk as fast as i need to be in order to get away. :p

    Anyone any experience with a GTX570 and i5 2500K setup? I'm tempted to buy the game but would like to get good framerates @ 1080p with max options.

    I just downsample it. :)

    Go to .\Alien Isolation\DATA and open ENGINE_SETTINGS.xml

    Find this part:

    <Quality name="1920x1200" resolutionX="1920" resolutionY="1200" precedence="17"/>
    <Quality name="1920x1080" resolutionX="1920" resolutionY="1080" precedence="16"/>
    <Quality name="1680x1050" resolutionX="1680" resolutionY="1050" precedence="15"/>
    <Quality name="1600x1200" resolutionX="1600" resolutionY="1200" precedence="14"/>
    <Quality name="1440x900" resolutionX="1440" resolutionY="900" precedence="13"/>
    <Quality name="1400x1050" resolutionX="1400" resolutionY="1050" precedence="12"/>
    <Quality name="1366x768" resolutionX="1366" resolutionY="768" precedence="11"/>
    <Quality name="1360x1024" resolutionX="1360" resolutionY="1024" precedence="10"/>
    <Quality name="1360x768" resolutionX="1360" resolutionY="768" precedence="9"/>
    <Quality name="1280x1024" resolutionX="1280" resolutionY="1024" precedence="8"/>
    <Quality name="1280x960" resolutionX="1280" resolutionY="960" precedence="7"/>
    <Quality name="1280x800" resolutionX="1280" resolutionY="800" precedence="6"/>
    <Quality name="1280x768" resolutionX="1280" resolutionY="768" precedence="5"/>
    <Quality name="1280x720" resolutionX="1280" resolutionY="720" precedence="4"/>
    <Quality name="1152x864" resolutionX="1152" resolutionY="864" precedence="3"/>
    <Quality name="1024x768" resolutionX="1024" resolutionY="768" precedence="2"/>

    And just add to it like so:

    <Quality name="3840x2400" resolutionX="3840" resolutionY="2400" precedence="20"/>
    <Quality name="2880x1800" resolutionX="2880" resolutionY="1800" precedence="19"/>
    <Quality name="2560x1600" resolutionX="2560" resolutionY="1600" precedence="18"/>

    <Quality name="1920x1200" resolutionX="1920" resolutionY="1200" precedence="17"/>
    <Quality name="1920x1080" resolutionX="1920" resolutionY="1080" precedence="16"/>

    Now these new screen resolutions only works in windowed mode so you will have to switch from fullscreen / borderless fullscreen to windowed mode.

    Windowed mode has borders but they are easy enough to get rid of via a tool called "SRWE" which can be downloaded from here.
    http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/7347/?
    (Current version is 2.2)

    Open SRWE, start the game and in SRWE click "Select running application" and choose Alien Isolation (AI.exe) and then just click "Remove borders" and that's all.
    (Don't forget to switch to whatever custom resolution you added for the game.)

    SRWE can also work with certain other games, one example is Evil Within although it doesn't downsample as nicely as Alien Isolation does.

    Downsampling + MLAA (if you don't mind the "softer" look as a tradeoff for less jaggies)

    Anyway, it seems there isn't a perfect solution for now. This seems to be a "shader aliasing" problem at the core of CA's engine for the game.

    You should be fine as long as the cpu and gpu are overclocked.

    The game is well optimized and runs great even on a single GTX 580.

    Could someone upload a savegame for me? Due to several issues, I had to re-install OS and Alien-Isolation game about 3 times now. Each time I would have to start over and now I badly want to play the game, but going through the same exact levels for the 4th time is just putting me off real bad, but I still want to keep playing the game.

    I only made it as far as the cinematic early in the game, before you even encounter the Alien, where the guy who was pointing gun at you and then helping you out, gets his stomach pierced by the Alien from the back. Its the scene where that guy feels that something is dripping on him from above and then suddenly BAM - a huge Alien tale (or whatever) is sticking out of his stomach. This was before you even encounter the Alien yourself.

    For the LOVE OF GOD - could someone PLEASE send/upload me a savegame that is close to that game progress point!?!?!?
    Sorry for the font, but it expresses my state of mind - deep desperation!!! I don't care if its a bit further as long as its not too far off, where I would miss a good bit of fun. A bit earlier wouldn't be too much of a problem, but man oh man, I can't be bothered playing through the beginning of the game for the 4th time. I might as well just uninstall and forget about it... Maybe there is a cheat, where I can select starting location?

    I may be wrong but doesn't this game use Steam cloud for saves? Do you not use that feature or did you acquire this game from illegitimate sources.

    No, mine is legit, but I don't use cloud saves for any game. Period. I have crap upload connection. I tried it with another game and it was a mess - it took longer to upload the save file than it took for me to load it. I only save on PC. I didn't expect to have to freshly format and re-install OS because a driver kept making my OS do the FUBAR BSOD, where format and re-install were the only solutions and I had absolutely no way to backup my saves.

    Anyway, I am still begging for the savegame!

    Thank you so much!!! Yes yes yes! I loaded it up and found myself in a place where I definitely haven't been before. Could you be so kind and provide me with a recap as to what happened between that guy being killed by the Alien and the savegame?

    Read the bold letters before getting your panties in a twist:
    When using the settings that are listed under 'Update 2', you will notice an increase in shimmering. This is just from over-reflective metal/chrome objects that have been affected by the above tweaks.

    Yes, you will need to adjust to your own liking and the screenshots in the above link dont do it any justice.

    OK, the cut scene happens at the end of Mission 2, correct? I loaded your last save and figured out that I was nowhere near of where I stopped last time. Then I realized I could load missions. I loaded Mission 3 and I think that is where I should be... or not?

    What difficulty setting is that, btw?

    You say a single 580 like its a weak card. My old 580 3gb still runs everything maxed with very little issue. Only at 1080p though. Yes Alien Isolation will run maxed out at 1080p with that card.

    GTX 580 is relatively weak when compared to today's high-end and even high-mid-end cards.., but it can still run plenty of games @ 1080p and Ultra settings!
