Changing the shadow sizes to 4096 definitely makes a difference, but I didn't see a difference with 8192, I only checked that scene though.

GuruKnight even said that using 4096 reduces the flickering with the SLI flag he found.

You're right, i can certainly see the difference there. Perhaps it just too subtle ingame for me to notice.

I didnt doesnt reduce pop in for me, it creates it.

Actually adjusting variables in the config do make a considerable difference. Here's an example:

But how did you achieve that though?

I see more reflections there, but for me, on my pc, im not getting any benefits by changing the variables in ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML. I just end up with light popins if lod is changed to anything higher than 1.0.

Also, im using Notepad to make the changes, could that be causing issues.

I don't think making the reflections sharper improves the final result. The vanilla diffuse reflections looks more realistic to me.

    Thanks it helped.
Not a bad game but I find they deliberately made it hard so that you absorb the atmosphere in this game.

Not bad but not good either. Scary it is especially with headphones and played at night.

Planar Reflections. Set it to 6 or higher.

    It's in my guide...

Sure, you are very welcome :)
Actually I did some more testing yesterday, and it seems "0x0C1000F5" combined with a 4096 shadow map is the overall best way of reducing light shaft flickering to a minimum.
In my testing this profile performs just as well as "0x0C0040F5" and "0x0C0080F5", but is far less problematic:

I also added this and other relevant information to my new "master thread" here on Guru3D:

Yeah that's it. It wouldn't let me add a link. Says I need 5 posts before being able to add links and images.

Reflections, Shadowresolution, Particles and how the light reacts around you, but some of the changes are subtle, because the engine only support software-antialiasing, like FXAA/SMAA If we could force the game to use AA then the changes would increase the visuals alot more.

Yet they make a living playing games and talking about them. In some cases A LOT of money. PewDiePie makes an estimated $4,000,000 last year from youtube ad revenue alone, not to mention what ever partnerships he has with dev companies, he never pays for games anymore people send him codes for free, companies also send him free hardware as well.

Maybe these "celebrities" do focus on the lowest common denominator but maybe they are more clever than you think, at least they are making a living out of it and pretty successfully.

I have long since renamed youtube, to Twitch Zero... it is gaming that made youtube explode to what is now even more so than funny cat videos.
