I've been reading a lot about the crash/error a lot of people are getting (AI.exe has stopped working) & last night it happened to me for no apparent reason & now the game wont launch.It seems to a random thing that happens randomly throughout the game.The official forum is full of posts about this but the devs say they have no clue whats causing the crash/error.Is anybody here having this problem ? .
Not sure if this will help, but there is a cache folder in /DATA, try removing the contents to the desktop and see if it loads
Just do the following. Certain rooms the benchmark passes though are a specific benchmark (1st room is tessellation, 3rd is volumetric lights, 4th is shadows), afterwards you get a file in the main games folder (opens with wordpad) that details all the results.
If that is the case then I accept I am wrong. However, environment details look very angular on my system with everything cranked to the max...wheel-like handles are noticeably angular as are pipes and so on. It may be tessellation is only used on the characters and not the environments? I will have to run the benchmark as I have not yet tried it. Kind of odd how it is a launcher option though rather than an option from within the game itself.
I think I've figured out the motion tracker. The number in the bottom left corner of the motion tracker's screen, the higher the number is, the safer you are. While I was hiding under a bed and the alien was right next to me, the tracker was showing a 20. But, when the alien took off down a hallway the number rapidly went up and topped out at 96 once the alien was gone. This made moving around a LOT easier. Just keep an eye on the number, and if it starts dropping... hide.
Only played this for a short time, but wtf is with those first enemies with guns ? Even on the easiest difficulty it's near on impossible, and why can't you pick up their guns? Makes me not want to play the game
Why alien doesn't respond to emp mine and gun attacks? He just comes at you. I think it's not realistic. Electromagnetic shock implies electric stun effect, right?
Yea, it just takes too long, they have too many guns, they are too good of a shot, you die far too quickly and then you have to do it all over again Not p1ssing about doing that this early into the game of "ALIEN" not COD EDIT - You don't even need to kill them, just take out however many get in your way, and sneak past the rest - I thought it was a bit backwards making you take on sh1t loads of guys with guns, with nothing but a wrench
The ones I posted fix its order, so that works ok.. I tried this LOD @ 2 too but didnt notice fog issues yet, maybe try 1.5 instead of 2.0? EDIT: that multi threaded shadows engine is weird, its here in CFG but gets ignored by game GUI, I changed its order a bit thought it might be bugged, but just doesnt want to show up in options menu..
Only had chance to have a quick play on it, but I'm impressed. Will spend a few hours with it this evening... lights off!
Lod tweak is very noticeable at beginning of benchmark with pop in on those middle pipes and chair highly visible at 1 and gone at 2. Haven't noticed any fog issues myself... Sli scaling and associated shadow res tweaks only make a big difference in places where fps tanks for no good reason with default bits, like right at beginning in pod room. If you aren't down sampling though you will probably maintain 60 fps locked anyways even with default sli profile and your 580s.
