I see it, looks like someone spray painted them on in MS paint

Something to do with film grain ? Can't remember what settings are in AW

Its called shadow jitter. Its a technique how to filter shadows to simulate soft shadowing and penumbra.

It looks quite ugly up close obviously.

I get this in Far Cry 4, you can see shadow specs appear on characters where shadows should be. As the game is trying to dynamic shadows on peoples cloths and faces. It also only happens in cutscenes and never in actual gameplay.

At first I thought it was one of my cards showing artifacts, but temps are perfectly fine and it only happens in Far Cry 4, other demanding games like BF4, Crysis 3, etc are perfectly fine.

Thanks guys. The thing is I don't remember having them before. Could be drivers causing it?

Hm mine seem to be more thin or not so spread, could be per level thing? Or maybe only car headlight casts such shadows? Im nowhere near a car with headlights on atm, can't test.

Could be per level/object setting perhaps.

Looking back at my own screenshots, at native res, there is definitely some dithering.

I had a dream about this thread last night, I remember looking carefully at the shadows on AW running on my PC to see if I had the same problem lol

Have you ever had a dream, Extraordinary, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

Would be great, I'd be able to fly, turn invisible, magic up the most awesome PC for free, and live in a billionaires mansion just by blinking 3 times and clicking my heels

And also I'd live in a world where My little pony was extinct

All those pics show environmental shadows, on the floor, walls, rocks, and cars. Generally things that are static in the game.

I think the problem lies solely with character shadows/dynamic shadows/self shadowing.

Its probably an issue with the game engine or how its coded to handle these types of shadows. Maybe that the games engine uses DX10 (i think).
