Epic means people will be cracking the game + half the sales. Guess we will have the same for Control 2 and Max Payne remakes. Shame. EGS is pure crap.
heh Epic exclusive. it's a real shame Remedy chose this over different options. not gonna buy it. sucks but that's life for ya.
This, honestly, sums it up incredibly well. I myself prefer GOG when available, as I like the option to download installers for offline use and the no-drm policy. I dislike Epic for the aforementioned reasons, but also for how they recently pulled the Unreal games from all stores (including the singleplayer ones).
Max Payne is owned by Rockstar/Take Two... It won't be an Epic exclusive. Remedy are not owned by Epic, they are an independent studio and make deals with multiple companies. The Max Payne remakes will most likely launch on Rockstar's launcher... Control 2, again, owned by Remedy but published by 505 Games... So, 505 has a thing with using Epic, but will would be a timed exclusivity like the first Control. Not everything coming from Remedy is automatically tied to Epic. They didn't chose Epic over other options. Remedy have been trying to get a publisher behind Alan Wake 2 for years upon years. But, kept getting turned down.. because the first game was not a massive seller. Didn't help the first Alan Wake was released the same day as the Red Dead Redemption. But, also, Remedy/MS had their release date locked in first. Then Rockstar delayed RDR and it's new release date was the same date as Alan.
i am looking at the consequence and on my options to pay for the game. when it's EGS only for good - someone in there is o.k with what that means for sales and so on. having this as the only option for PC ( correct me if im wrong here ) means i must get it with EGS even on 2025-2026. if i understood the situation the right way, i don't even care about Remedy's history on Alan Wake 2 since i own all of their games via Steam. now i won't be able to own Alan Wake 2 - tough crap.. one less paying customer.
Would love to know why they removed Max Payne 1 and 2 from Steam but not 3..... was going to get them all during steam sale but... yeah..
I did not like Max Payne 2 or 3. Max Payne was epic though for the time, it was also the LAST PC game I preorder. I hear Alan Wake 2 is digital only.. and THQ nordic is try to get them do physical disc. consoles game I buy are on disc if digital only it unlike I would ever buy it. PC is another story, I can play my digital library on any PC I make even one 10 years from now. IF i could play digital library one gen to next gen of consoles, with improvements like PC I would not mind digital on consoles.
That's entirely up to Rockstar and Take Two. Remedy have zero control of the series, and haven't since they made the first game. Rockstar and Take Two purchased the Max Payne property after the first game was done, Remedy developing MP2 was part of the contract for the sale. And, as for why Rockstar pulled Max Payne 1 and 2 from Steam... That's a regional thing. Not sure why, but the game is still available in the US, and a few other countries.
Feels like with video streaming services all over again, doesn't it? At first you have a genre primus that paves the way, and later everybody wants to have a piece of the cake, fragmenting the market with exclusivities and non-shared software and in the end only the consumer suffers from it, has to install different launchers or buy at different stores. Increasing the chance for identity theft or hacks to effectively compromise your data... so that [insert digital store companie beyond the first] can earn more money. Not to mention how annoying it is to have an opinion on it as well. Anyway, well done Remedy for securing your money, and EGS for spending that money to get exclusivity, and for both of them, to force users to jump through the hoops of your wishes.
I wasn't a huge fan of AW but I'm looking forward to this one based on the trailer. As to Epic, they are the publisher's and without them and their money this game may not have had a chance so I think you can let them off on this one.
