Yeah, and like the Alan Wake Remaster, published by Epic... not just a timed exclusive to their store. So, chances are... this will be permanent to the Epic store. But... Alan Wake II. So excited for this, and so happy for Remedy. Those guys have been wanting to make this for years.
Effing, finally! Control and the remaster of Alan Wake was the only real purchases I did on the EGS. This won't be the exception. Same.
Love Alan Wake, can't stand Epic store or their exclusivity deals. Before anyone chimes in on "What's the difference...blah blah blah" Jog on....
Hopefully it delivers more of what the original vision for the pc exclusive was. That's the game i was actually looking forward to back then, not the thing that eventually came out.
Oh yes. Just yes. A mysterious town to explore, with interesting characters and storylines, with a proper day night cycle and extreme weather effects that meaningfully affect it. And hopefully a more interesting and intricate combat. Even with Control... such a missed opportunity. Instead of running around those hallways the entire game, that should've been just the "HQ" with a mystery you slowly unravel, while actually going to hunt for those "paranormal items" in different, interesting, mysterious locations all over the world. Encounter all sorts of characters in different weird circumstances and figure out ways to actually get those items. I'm so glad i can actually imagine a game like that. Gives me more joy than actually playing Control. Which was okay.
That all sounds good on paper but in reality it becomes a tedious trying to farm experience and uncover many uninteresting areas. Ubisoft games comes to mind. Open world aspects does not work every time. Dont get me wrong i find witcher 3 to be one of the best rpgs ever made and i've enjoyed horizon zero dawn very much but it seems remedy realized that when they went different way. Alan Wake works as a linear story driven psychological thriller and they should stay on that route.
I'm not talking about nor imagining anything that resembles those games. Something entirely different really. Different people like different things. For me, it was an average experience and sort of a let down, compared to the game I was hoping for and imagining that it could be, based on what was talked about and presented back then. And I hope they finally deliver. /watch?v=IJAxpwqtQmw&t=303s never forget
I like that they're leaning into survival horror. Maybe an Evil Within / Resident Evil or even Silent Hill-ish game, set in a Remedy universe. Oh that would be so good.
I was hopping for a gameplay trailer or anything story related by summer but it seems we wont be seeing it anytime soon.
