Just bought Age of empires 3..GET it home and says it won't install cause I'm NOT using WIN XP??

SINCE when does a game require a partiular OS...especially as I'm using WIN2000SP4...whichn has only minor differences with XP..

IS this a M$ effort to force everyone to XP??? I have WOW and it goes back to 98!!..

I ahve never seen a single OS before on a game and can only conclude its a M$ consiparcy.....

Will there be a patch at some point..Cause I bet this is just a "check if XP then denie usage", but all functions would work.....

Yes its only for xp. But people have found ways to get to work on 2000. The directions are pretty long. I cant seem to find it on google though.

Hey, Vista is on its way, and the fact that you are not using XP, shows that you are pretty outdated. Most big coporations use XP already. Its the most powerful OS available, for work and play. Get XP.

98 and 2k3 server are the only "stable" win os's

u want stable.. get a mac.

i have xp pro.. and its as stable as can be.. dunno what the hell people have against xp.. its better than 2k or ME(bweehhh)

if you wanna play NEW games than you have to use NEW software and hardware

its the same as someone who wants to play fear with their voodoo3 or somethin.

    its utterly ridiculous

Yeah, I have never had any problems with XP Home or Pro. Except for when I first got my computer, and that's because the video drivers were really damn old.

Hey, I don't wanna hear no lip outta you people.

I used windows 98 up until about december of 2004....and it never gave me any troubles.

Well, cept that if I wanted to run anything modern I would have to upgrade....but it was always stable.

Windows 2000 did it for me. It was rock stable! Never had problems.

Actually, if it was still updated by Microsoft, I would still be using it! ;)

i've used every OS except for 2000, Windows XP is the most stable out of all of them, and is the easiest to keep running

heck, atleast you can end task a game without crashing the entire machine on XP

    Wrong.

XP is just an overbloated 2000.

I use 2000 on work machines and home machines.
