Amen! A quick glance over the last ten pages about 85% of posts or more were asking when v.9 will be released. The GUI was pretty cool but I can see that just causing more work. I wonder how that'll work with the different configurable options available in v.8.

Take your time! Do we have to download MalDo's textures again in v0.9?

    Here's an idea...

Instead of making people download a huge file that includes MalDo's fix, let them download it separately if they want it and they can merge it themselves... That way your file will be at most a few megabytes. Releasing would be ten times easier as it would be a quick upload and quick downloads for people with crappy internet connections.

I released that BAT tool earlier that should be so easy a child could use it. It will merge any two patches.

It may seem that simple, but that would still certainly result in hundreds of troubleshooting posts. Dealing with a larger download, but completed mod, is a a much better idea.

    My advices:
    1. Don't rush, because working too fast = much more bugs etc.
    2. Don't do what people want, just do what you think it's good for mod, in the end it's your mod not users and after release of the new version you can do poll for yourself about - what to do or what to change in new version.
    3. Copy-paste method is fine, but you can try good old and best option to install the mod I think about software "CreateInstall or Inno Setup" = fast, easy and less problematic then dedicated softwares.

As if this thread isn't already full of stupid questions that have been asked 100 times already?

Its as simple as running a BAT file. One double click. Oh and renaming two files first. Not hard. If people are going to mod their games, they should be willing to figure this kind of stuff out themselves.

About time, tell it like it is.Man you must have done a million facepalms by now.Do the mod the way you want it.
Also I must say I love that blueish bloom with version 0.8. Take a break, not sleeping ,dreaming about modding the game will drive you nuts.I know all the crazy comments would too.

Perhaps you misunderstood me. I agree that's a pretty simple task for installing a mod, but the golden rule of modding is that someone will find a way to screw it up. I'd say the copy and paste installation of v.7 and the GUI from v.8 are the best options for v.9 or 1.0. Either way having everything packaged together and ready would end up being easier. Otherwise there will be questions like what other mod to download and patching questions, the list just goes on.

I'm not saying not to use a config tool. I'm saying, don't include the MalDo texture files with every release. This will save TONS of bandwidth. For the people who want the textures, make that a separate download that they can simply merge with either a pre-configured patch.dat/fat OR with a config tool's patch.dat/fat output. The merging functionality could EASILY be implemented into the config tool without NEEDING to have the texture files at hand.

i already posted the fix for that, but you need to remove 5 texture files before creating the Patch.dat\.fat file.
the 5 files are named metalgaragedoor in the graphics\_textures\_metal folder
