18M is NOTHING compared to long term effects of the harassment. These weak lawmakers just slap these psychopaths on the wrist for wrong doing and let them carry on. No one fired, no prison terms, no change. Just business as usual.

I got one better for you. How about not be an evil corporation that only cares about money, don't treat your employees like crap, pay a fair wage, don't discriminate and don't make them work crunch hours then you might not be sued.

There is that and then theres this:

    https://www.theverge.com/2021/7/28/...rd-cosby-suite-sexual-harrassment-allegations

Yeah, Cosby was found innocent by the courts (which is neither here nor there, who knows whats the truth really) but celebrating his alleged wrongdoing this way, in a professional setting no less, is indubitably shitty and inappropriate. Im neither a snowflake nor do i like this modern movement of cancel culture at all but a place of business should be as sterile as possible, you can be "obnoxious" as much as you want on your own time. People come to work to do a job and thats where all opinions should end be it sports teams, religion, politics, etc... just be f-ing professional is all im saying. This picture up there is anything but. This is bro culture and i dont mind it, in a pub, in a frat, comedy tv show, a "man cave", boys night out... but at work that crap has no place nor purpose. I also despise when someone gets canned for being open about his opinions outside of work, if it wasnt on company time he/she/it can be a Hitler lover for all i care.

Disclaimer: I am a man and i am in a mid management position. I dont give more leeway to anyone based on any gender, group, opinion or whatever. We wanted equality, thats equality. No "feminine leave days" or tears either, f that. Same expectations (and rules) from everyone all around.

These things are always difficult to make moral judgements on.
On one hand we have all the allegations, on the other we have Bill Cosby being cleared of those charges.
Sure, a pic of Bill Cosby, or references to the name Cosby may offend some people who have decided he is guilty regardless of the law, but if we take this route with everyone accused of stuff then cleared by courts where does it end ?

    I'm sure forum members can think of many people accused of the most horrific crimes but never found guilty, but to take just one example;
I still see people with Michael Jackson t-shirts on, people listening to Michael Jackson songs, mainstream media are still happy to have his image and music on their platforms. I would guess some companies even have the songs playing in their offices. There is a long list of child sex abuse allegations against him. What does this say about those people, should they be sacked too ? Should those companies face sexual harassment charges ?

18m? That's just opportunity costs. They have earned more than this in actual profit only the day this was announced, if you think about it.

QFT, that's the only way to do it right. True equality won't ever be reached if you counter a faulty balance with another faulty balance.

Harassment in 2020 is socializing in 2008. We've really devolved into a bunch of whiny women's studies majors.

Cosby admitted he drugged and raped women in lawsuits against him. He got off on a technicality because one honest DA didn't honor another corrupt DA's deal with this rapist piece of crap. If he had drugged and raped you, I think you'd feel differently.

And what was going on at Blizzard was NOT "socialization". To say otherwise means you didn't bother to read the charges against these people. That level of behavior towards ANYONE was NEVER acceptable.

It's just that insecure assholes used to get away with it. Now, they do not.

    Good.

Pigs will fly first. Employees should observe, learn, and leave poor employers instead.

    where do you get off?

the faulty balance is enabling the rich to the point it takes two income families in most of the 1st world to be middle class.
we're also talking biology, not just logic or philosophy.
women are not men, and no economy can do without them, acknowledging the difference is the only way to be fair.

men have every single flaw that misogynists point out in women.
make a man have estrus then see who will talk BS.

@tunejunky What is "where do you get off" actually supposed to mean?

Yes, I agree that needing two incomes in a family to be average is a faulty balance. Care to let me understand what's the connection to the op, or my post there? Or just random words?
Regarding to biology, this is true. But you could just point that out in relation to @PPC as well, since he's actually the one enforcing his workplace conditions there, or just trying to tackle me here? Did I say if somebody's not able to work, they should still be forced?
But it's true, female physiology is different. Then, so is it between males as well, not every guy feels the same like every other guy working somewhere. And not all females are the same either... how do you balance bodily needs and times off like PPC mentioned with females who, due to their age or medical conditions, do not get time off because they don't have such needs? Who need to pick up that work for no extra pay? You see, being fair isn't always easy, and sometimes, sadly, a point of view.
Never said anything about how any economy should be without women. Don't know where that came from.

Well, you're pretty clearly generalizing here with your last two sentences. And you CAN'T make a man understand what it's like being a female, isn't that would you said before? Why then give off a line like "make a man have estrus"? Way to go advertising for equality with generalizing a whole gender group.

@tunejunky @fantaskarsef Just a quick interruption, when i said "no feminine leave days" what i meant is no off the books leave days because youre a female and you have "needs". I acknowledge menstrual cycles can be difficult and you can always go get a doctors note for any and all legitimate biological issues you are having, male, female or otherwise.

Im not a slave driver but i do not acknowledge that women should have leeway for their biological issues by default. We all have biological issues and we all have to have an equal system of addressing them, its more individual than gender based. Im not going to play doctor or track female employees cycles so i dont get "played", go to a proper doctor, do it by the book and its all good.

Sadly, this is where "women equality" actually screwed us all, lol. Once women entered the workforce it basically doubled overnight and enabled said workforce to be paid half as much. A man was expected to provide for a family and thats how he had to be paid, for a family. This is another topic tho...

    TLDR; you're rationalizing the comment.

but given that you were commenting on a comment i will change the "you" to a metaphorical "you". i didn't mean to assume you were a "caveman", so sorry for that.

the facts remain, where women are in the workforce by the numbers they work in service industries, health care, education, and finance. which is not to say they aren't in or deserve to be in other industries.
and those industries have manipulated their status and biology without concern to requirement from the beginning of the modern workplace to now. many guys just look and think status quo when the state of that quo was unfair to begin with.
