As much as I am against it, we can protest all we want but it's been signed.

Australia, Canada, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and the US signed it on October 1, 2011. Poland was probably the first European Union member to sign it on January 26.

What's really bothering me is how the Canadian Conservative government signed the ACTA and then under the Canadian Access to Information Act, the University of Ottawa's Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic received a copy of ACTA with everything except the title of the document blacked out. That's a huge bother for me, a democratic government which is by law has to release such information blacks it out entirely.

Yes, the US signed it....but, by federal law, the US can't recognize it unless ratified by congress. Also by US law, a petition can block ratification of it if the necessary signatures are collected prior to the vote.

Every US law has a loophole to protect someone....just a matter of finding the loophole that protects human interests....or, in this case, our damn internet!!!!

Evil prevails when good men fail to act. That is all.

Quite possibly. That's one of my favorite quotes, because it sums up so much in so little words. I'll be signing every partition I came across on this matter, even If I'm not a US citizen. This bitch be going world wide.

ACTA is really old news. It's almost 2 years since I made a website-based presentation on it for my Web Integrator graduation.

But yes, SOPA and PIPA aren't nearly as bad. They might even just have been a smokescreen for ACTA, but let's have faith in humankind. SOPA and PIPA are toxic to politicians atm, as they might cost them their re-elections. Hopefully, the same thing will happen to ACTA.
But seriously, screw the entertainment industry.

Probably one of the truest quotes....along with
"The road to hell is paved with good intensions"...which would very well describe the US Gov't from founding til now....lol

Most senators and congressmen have had postings on their related sites to that effect in regards to SOPA and PIPA.....ACTA won't be much different. Some of the idiots running the US Gov't already know they're going to be voted out anyway....it's not really a secret that Americans are pissed off at the government. Any politician to think otherwise is either misguided or flat out stupid (which I've actually told MY congressman he's stupid).

Think about who owns the media companies that distribute the news... then think about who own the media companies that distribute music and video.

    OMG they are the same!!!!

Blood must be shed in the face of tyranny just a reminder voicing ur concern and disgust only goes so far.. As long as you don't become tyranny yourself
