To be honest, if those are really dead pixels (because they are so small I'm only 90% sure), I can't see them if not specifically having single color pictures all over the screen. Actually I don't feel bothered by them, and can't discern them while playing. Can I activate 120Hz ULMB even though I'm running 980s? Gsync apparently activated 'itself' on hooking the screen up. Also, can somebody link me to a tutorial to set up the monitor using those handy profiles?
http://i.imgur.com/g3vXW2g.jpg This is pretty damn sweet. I took this immediately after plugging it in, so I haven't adjusted the height or colors at all yet. I can't spot any dead pixels. Looks like I may have gotten a perfect specimen! I noticed the reflection on the bottom bezel right away, but it's not a big deal to me. After some testing I actually prefer running this in 120Hz to match my old monitor, and with neither ULMB or G-Sync on. Feels kinda silly having all these features and not using them, but they really address issues that I didn't really experience in the first place. G-sync actually caused horrible stuttering (performance issues) in Path of Exile when I tested it, and ULMB seemed to make the screen very dark.
I brought mine from Microcerter today, and took it out of the box, plugged it and no dead pixels, no light bleed....
After a week of testing I'm not even sure anymore those two dead pixels I saw were really dead pixels. I'm very happy with my screen, although it's from March batch, and can't do 120Hz + ULMB. It's very expensive, but if you fancy putting up with lots of money spent on gaming hardware, grab it
Grats then, it would just let me activate it for 80 and 120Hz. But to be honest, I'd rather stick to Gsync on anyway Out of curiosity, is there any way to update the monitor's firmware?
What a monitor, and what a game changer. Never really gave any attention to what monitor I had, just the hardware inside of my PC. Playing Half Life 1 now, and this **** looking vibrant!
I'll have to try the 120Hz ULMB thing, could be interesting to know if it works. Don't remember which build date I got on mine. Regarding build quality I wish the blue led wouldn't shine so bright and also that you wouldn't see the light shine "next" to the menu buttons.
Well even as I deactivated Gsync and tried to set up ulmb my monitor stated 'ULMB only available in 80Hz, 100Hz', so I think mine can't do it (May production batch). Is there any way to update the firmware? Also, I was lucky to not have any backlight bleed, and not even the blue light around the buttons breaks through, I see just the blue led.
Not found any info regarding upgrading the firmware so I guess we'll have to contact Acer directly. Lucky you that the blue light doesn't break through, it's slightly annoying.
Would be interesting to see if and how they might update such a monitor Also, to be honest, I just noticed the blue light does indeed bleed out a bit, I just didn't notice. So yes, I've got some sort of blue light around the led, but I think it's not that bad since it does not annoy me personally. I seldomly use my computer in a completely dark room though.
Maybe through USB or something? Idk. Ah you did too? Good to hear in a way since I thought that area of my monitor was misshaped. You're right, it's not THAT big of a deal
