Lol off looks 10x better. Also the TXAA stuff is funny, da f*ck are they thinking. And yeah the flintlock causing that much smoke is funny. XD Feels like they couldn't be arsed doing it, so they did it half assed.
txaa is awesome imo , though i do find aliasing just as horrible as tearing which doesnt seem to bother some people
To me the animation is clearly better on the PhysX one, they just need to lower the particle count and make the texture more translucent and add a faster decay time.
Both to me look all sorts of wrong, but I prefer the non physx one. Tho I do realize the fact that if used properly the physx one would be awesome but now it's just silly, I had to watch few flintlock videos online to see how it works irl.
So, the message I got is that PhysX detracts from my gameplay experience since all I will see is a giant smoke area all around. No thanks.
Smoke on the guns are somewhat a tiny bit overdone, but yeah gunpowder did cause A LOT of smoke. for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2zfbvzeBuA
Notice everyone bashing it so passionately have AMD GPU's. I think I cracked the code. Moving along now.
Nope, I'm bashing it because I have eyes to see the mess they did. Don't get me wrong, I like PhysX, but this implementation is so lame it hurts to see.
And TXAA it also has HBAO+ but meh game is fubar you have to disable ingame v-sync and use driver based triple buffering for it to be playable you still get the random crap but it does play better than AC3 did. You can turn off the effects if you don't like it but black powder guns do produce a heavy thick smoke that is near-about impossible to see through.
I guess this is the worst and laziest implementation of physx i ever saw. The frame rate goes down just by enabling it, even without any effect happening on the screen, which i believe, in this case, is limited to only smoke. Apparently just the main character's guns/tools produce the enhanced smoke. If i had paid ubisoft 5 million dollars to add my exclusive effects and optimize the game, i would seriously want a refund right now, lol. But, knowing nvidia, this was probably their intention from the start, people dissatisfied with the performance can buy a new vga.
Sorry but REALLLLY!!!??? Those smoke effects are terrible! The stock ones look MUCH MUCH better to me. Plus why on earth is there so much of it? It totally blocks your view in battles/fights. The only thing that looked pretty damn impressive was TXAA, honestly that made the game look seriously crisp. If there was any tech I could have from Nvidia on the AMD front it would be that. I would pass on the physX effects any day.
