    Hey Guru3D,

I've just order a few days ago this laptop,

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220306

And I was wondering, a few things, I would like to connect this laptop to a TV and surround sound to watch movies and listen to them at 5.1 surround sound. Now given this problem, what do I need in order to accomplish that? I know that my TV only has component connections, and my surround system is connected to the tv.

    Thanks,
    Hiro1000

What outputs do you have on the laptop? If you've got DVI out (which I would imagin you do) you can get a converter... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812203023

For the sound you would need to use line out directly into the amp (I presume that's what you mean by having the surround sound plugged into the tv?)

    Its got:
    1 x VGA, 1 x HDMI

Its weird that they put a VGA and an HDMI and skipped on the DVI.

No it's not. HDMI and DVI are pretty much the same, video quality wise at least... The primary difference in the two being that HDMI carries audio as well as video. Can you not plug HDMI into your TV? I'll have to look around to see how to get the HDMI signal split...
