Add your favorite, still fun-to-play PC game. Please restrict yourself to one game, so as not to make this thread go on too long. Let me define some criteria here. I don't want this thread to become a wasteland of mediocre doo-doo games just because they struck someone's fancy for a minute. There are a lot of games we get nostalgic for and go to the trouble of reinstalling to play it for a half-hour or so and then remember why we stopped playing it. I don't want those games on this list. I want games that are really fun and still replayable, load quickly and are not difficult to install. For the sake of setting a limit on the age of the games, let's restrict ourselves to games made before DX10 came out, but games made to run at least with Windows 95 to XP, and are still compatible with Windows 10 without too much fuss. Post a video if you can find one without an annoying voiceover.

My entry is Road Rash. You can get it on Amazon or eBay or *ahem* elsewhere. It's easy to install, simple to learn, will run on just about anything, loads fast, and after all these years it's still a blast to play. There's a modernized clone of it on Steam called Road Redemption, but it just isn't the same. EA would do well to whip up another Road Rash for PC and consoles. It wouldn't have to be a huge budget game, I mean, the concept is simple enough that I'm sure they could put together a winner for only a few million.

Let's keep this about your favorite old PC game for Windows, I guess that's what I was trying to get at in my first post. Anything between '95 and Windows XP. Pick a game, tell us why it's still a fun game, and post a video.

Diablo II is one of those games I still play to this day, it has everything and most important the atmosphere and suspense; it's easy to install and runs on about anything.

It's true. I even went through and registered my keys at Blizz to get the latest install files and patches :D
(since I don't put disc drives into my rigs anymore except HTPC for the blu rays I still have and never watch)

Titan Quest is my Diablo II. Man I've put so many hours in that game it's not even funny. But even after hundreds of hours of gameplay I still find new items I've never seen.

There are a lot of games that are personal favorites of mine, like Outcast, Unreal and Unreal Tournament, the Half-Life games, Red Alert 2, Age of Mythology and so on. But if I could only "keep" one game from 1995-2005, I think it'd have to be Quake Arena.

It's not that Quake Arena is the best game ever or anything, but I've never grown tired of 1v1 death match against friends or bots. Zooming around the maps at high speeds, getting as much as possible perfect in both aim and movement, just never got tired for me.

I'm currently replaying Darksiders 1 and 2, although they are the remastered editions. Still really great games.

If I had to choose one game though it would definitely be Thief Gold. I can replay that so many times. There are a couple mods to bring the graphics a little more up to date, but the gameplay itself has aged extremely well where it still puts most modern stealth games to complete shame. Truly an immersive masterpiece.
