9800xt power problem

This 9800xt is only 2 months old, I am getting a message on screen saying that there is no power cable connected(and it is connected).This has happend a couple of times, but now its doing it all the time.I have had to take it out and put in my old 9600 pro.
My head is now done and I need some help guys........

 

Could be a loose connection.. either a bad molex cable or socket on the card.

 

That's happened to me before with bad molexes. One was with a Radeon 9800 Pro, the other with a Zalman fan on a Geforce 6800nu. The second failure killed the card. Try a different molex connector--or if a lot of them are bad, get a new PSU.

 

me too. if you try another molex connector has no effect, check the lead in the molex.

9800xt is older one, only 2 months?

 

Cheers Guys,I changed the power cable to the graphics card and all seems to be fine,so it must of been dodgy molex..

Glad to here you fixed it. Back with my old Sapphire 9800pro I had the the same exact thing happen, changed the molex and it worked like a champ.

 

One question, though. The Radeon 9800 is a four-year-old card. How can yours be 2 months old?
