I am ordering a new Quad Core Dell for my company. They do NOT do any 3d animation with these machines. They do editing with Adobe Premiere 2.0 and exporting the video into various formats.

My question is, since the Quadro is SO MUCH more expensive than Dells choice of that or a 9800GT, should I get the 9800GT? Will there be a difference in rendering the video scenes between these two cards? OR, should I splurg a little more and go for the GTX280? Will this make a bigger difference than the 9800GT?

    Thanks

As far as i know, Premiere uses a bit of acceleration, something that a Quadro isn't needed. It would be a bit over the top. I would go for the 9800, but i have no idea how much better the GTX280 is if you want to do video editing.
Perhaps you should check on video encoding products more instead of getting a Quadro.
A dedicated card that is for HD encoding for instance.

Thanks for your reply and your input.

I don't even think they need anything that over the top either (seperate encoder).

If anyone has anymore input, it would be appreciated.

I'm willing to bet an 8800GT/9800GT would do just fine......though, I would recommend checking prices between the 8800GT and 9800GT and buying the cheaper....since the cards are identical.
