So I guess what I thought was an artifact was just Heaven weirdness that shows up every time even at normal clocks. I concluded at 1225(1428)/3650 which is rock solid at 10 runs of Heaven, 30 minutes of Furmark, 10 minutes of OCScanner furry E max memory setting and no crashes in Witcher 3 and GTA V. I think I'm going to dial it back to 1215/3625 for every day use. Not a terrible overclock.

To all those experiencing black screen driver crashes in Chrome. Few questions to see if there's relation at all.

1 - In which order does the crash usually occur?

    A) Start computer > Play game for a while > Exit game/minimize game > Open Chrome > Shortly after - driver Crash

    or

    B) Start computer > Open Chrome > Shortly after - driver Crash

It seems the driver crashes whilst using Chrome only once a game has been started up (as to heat up the card a bit and power states have fluctuated)

2 - What resolution are you running at?

I ask because i see artifacts at 1440p in Chrome with HA disabled, at 1440p. If I drop the resolution to 1080p the artifact in Chrome instantly disappears. Almost as if the card becomes more stable. Note : This is with hardware acceleration disabled

3 - Driver has crashed whilst using..

    A - Chrome only
    B - Firefox only
    C - Internet explorer only
    D - Other browser only
E - Combination of one or more

From my experience so far I've only seen it happen whilst using Chrome.

    Step-Up........ Finally

So my eVGA Step-Up has finally been processed and i've paid the £93 needed.
Just need to send my 980 SC ACX back to Germany and wait for the new 980ti ACX to arrive.

Hopefully be up and running within a week or so with a new card !!!

Quite pleased I went with eVGA for the step-up.

980 SC ACX 2.0 cost me £455.99 in April, add the £93 and about £15 (shipping old card to Germany) equals £564 total spend...... which is about the going rate for a 980ti over here.

It's a move from nVidia too - the $650 pricing only goes for USA and not Europe.

While the MSRP of both GeForce GTX 980 Ti and GeForce GTX 980 seems to be very competitive in the U.S., the same cannot be said about the prices in Europe. The official manufacturer’s suggested retail price of Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 980 Ti for the U.K. is £549 including value added tax (VAT), which is $752. The MSRP of the GeForce GTX 980 Ti for Eurozone is €739 – €749 ($824 – $835), depending on the country, which is considerably higher compared to the price in the U.S.

I'm DESPERTELY thinking about getting one of these! I only got my 2 970's a couple months back though... so I'd be taking roughly a £100 hit selling my cards if I could get £450 for them both (plus the eBay fees!). Then I'd still need to put up another £150 to get the MSI version.

Do we know yet whether DX12 is going provide the massive 'free' performance boost it was plugged as by some people? That may be the deciding factor in me sticking my 970's as I plan on upgrading my OS next month when W10 releases.

Its selling for 1025$ here :)

Very soon a migration plan will be cheaper than the gpu itself.

I'm tempted to switch my cards around as the top card has a lower ASIC quality than the bottom card and has a higher voltage under load as a result, might drop the temps on the top card slightly if I make the switch.

Got my cards up to 1405MHz boost with the top card hitting 83C in Heaven 4.0 while the bottom cards on 74C, much larger gap between the temps on these compared to my old 780Ti's, they ran within 2 or 3C of eachother.

Still using the stock fan profile which actually seems to do a much better job than i anticipated.

EDIT: So close to 4K in Heaven lol.

You think that temp difference is bad you should have seen my 2 XFX Double D 290s. I had to return the second one because temps got so bad.

What would you guys recommend as the best program to test OC stability?

I've been using the Heaven 4.0 benchmark and 3DMark Firestrike, but there's no reason why you can't just throw on a GPU heavy game and test that way :)
